I tried to capture this with my camera but it said no. I might try again today if the sun visits.

I decided I'd go with winter since my last fall experiment with nail polish ended with the polish staning my nails. Which was funny since I used Revlon's Fall Mood and Sweet Sangria and Fall Mood (the copper) stained, not the Sangria. :P

Also, to be honest if my nails aren't blue/green, they're usually much more likely to be fall themed any time in the year. Finally, I really wanted to try my new polish. :P

So! I finally bought a topcoat, (which I will also cheat and use as a base coat because I can) Revlon's Quick Dry because, gasp, it actually dried really quickly when I tried it out.

Over that we tried the pretty (in the bottle) Revlon Colorstay Midnight which looks much, much lighter in the bottle. On my nails it was exceptionally dark which was... unexpected. Not in a pleasant way, either. :/ Which is weird because I am a teal fanfan.

Anyway, onto the star of the show. When I bought my top coat, I also bought Radiant. I waffled between an actual base coat and getting a color but every time I walk by the Revlon polishes, Radiant calls to me. "Buy me!" So I would pick it up and then just as quickly put it down because something was off. But she wore me down and I bought her (totally a her) and put a coat or two over Midnight. The effect is less winter and more summery ocean but it's still very pretty. Oh, and top coated it all to make it all smooth. I'm pretty proud of myself.

And now we whinge for a minute. Last year was the first year in damn near a decade (!) that I didn't have to work. Naturally none of my friends, who normally do Thanksgiving things, did a damned thing. This year, when I was put on the holiday to-work list (third shift was pre-printed so I guess we were screwed since the holiday sign-ups went up while K was on vacation and I was, too), suddenly it's all "everyone's invited!"

I know it's a coincidence and just one of those things but seriously?

Which, when coupled with the following just makes my eye twitch more than it should. I've bitched before, but it was brought up again so... I'll bring it up again. When the holiday sign-up sheets went up, my name was the only name pre-printed for both days. Which means that in theory, I am the only person scheduled to work both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone else works one or the other.

Which was irksome but I tell myself it's fine because if they leave my schedule alone, I will not have to work Christmas Eve (or New Year's Eve) and that's the one I'd rather have off anyway.

K at work mentioned that one of the slightly higher-ups asked which of the third-shifters was working which holiday and it came up that yes, indeed, I'm working both. So K is all, "I'll work for you on Christmas! Oh, wait, I'm working it any way." Followed by other things that made it kind of obvious that someone, somewhere, noticed the discrepancy and thought it should be fixed (I worry about you, Christmas Eve!) but then K goes on about how she won't even be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving. Without offering to work that one. Which I'd have told her, "nah, it's cool" because of the Eves thing, but it was weird all the way around.

I guess we'll see how things pan out.
