I'm torn. On the one hand, the US government is clearly filled with children who never had to suck it up and take one for the team a day in their life.
On the other hand, it's October and that is my most favorite month of the year. I started decorating yesterday by slipping in a few pumpkins around the house (fake, because the real ones would rot if I bought any yet) and my Halloween coasters are slowly appearing throughout the house. I put out the autumn hand towels and the candy dishes that are really too small to hold candy but they're cute. About ten minutes after midnight I put up a strand of purple lights in my room and an hour or so ago I went outside to see if they were visible from the front. They are! So pretty. I'll have to re-hang them the opposite way so that when I get a strand from the attic the windows will look like they go together.
Unlike last year, I'm not going to be able to make the whole month look pretty here on LJ but I'll give it a shot for awhile.

Some people wax poetic about Autumn because the days get colder and that means it's sweater weather, but me? I love the way things change so very much every single day. The cool air for most of the month, the leaves that around here go from green to yellow to completely off the tree in the span of 12 hours (I swear there's a memo they send out so all the trees go naked on the same day) the way everything seems clearer somehow. Probably because you're not about to pass out from heat stroke, but still. Everything is creepier and still somehow so beautiful.
