Jan. 14th, 2019 03:43 amThus far I've been okay on the keeping up with my cleaning. A little less so on the digital housekeeping, but I feel like I can probably catch up to where I want to be tonight considering I slept all day. Which is usually how my Sundays go. I'm either up all day and pass out right after dinner, or I sleep the day away. Especially at period time where my body decides that I need all the sleep. ALL. THE. SLEEP.
Because I know some of you like to keep up with book/author drama, for the past week or so I've been befuddled/annoyed by the Jennifer Armintrout/Armentrout thing. To which you're probably like, "the what now?" so let me give you the short version and then a link to the 'article'/post that details things more.
Once upon a time, in the land of LKH insanity, someone linked to a fabulous author who had a take on the WTF. I laughed and immediately fell in love. The author was Jennifer Armintrout. Note the i. You can find her at Jennytrout.com and while I don't follow many authors (possibly any at all?) other than her, I will say that she's fabulously wacky and I still love her. I went out and tracked down a book of hers and that was that.
My point, where did I leave my point? Oh. Yeah. I also remember being a little surprised that she'd changed her name. Turns out she did so because another author, Jennifer ArmEntrout (see the E?) started publishing in the same genres and some (possibly) well-meaning people told Jenny that it was no big deal. Only then it was, because E eclipsed I and hence the name change.
This kinda makes it seem less like a coinky dink and more like a dick move. Because after awhile it's just a lot of little things that make you go umm...
I am a bit perplexed though, as I could've sworn that I read a short story by one of them in a collection but the only anthologies I could find are ones I know I've never read. The universe is a strange thing, I suppose.
Dammit. I'm still fucking hungry and shouldn't really be. Debating spending the time making a grilled cheese.
In other news, I did my part to make winter last for about two more days as I finally ordered a coat. To be fair, I don't want winter to be over but as last year's snowstorm proved, I really do need a coat. So I snagged the Hello Kitty one from Torrid's clearance section and I will hopefully not regret this decision. I do love that one of the three reviews is bitching about the Hello Kitty themed embroidery... on a HK coat. Like... the point, you missed it? It's not like this is the Doctor Who coat that I am still bitter about missing considering it was in stock right up until the minute a sale went live and then suddenly it was gone. Riiiiiiiiiiiight. Anyway, that one is kind of a hidden fandom thing whereas the HK coat it's in the embroidery.
I've spent the last couple of hours (off and on) trying to remember my last coat. I'm fairly certain there's one in my closet, jammed behind all my dolls (don't judge) but I think that's Dad's. I think I had a purple one at some point when we lived at the house but I'm pretty sure that was my last one. I don't really do coats because I get too hot too quickly and then I wind up carrying around something that feels like it weighs nine billion pounds... but I also don't like hearing Mums bitch when I venture out on the few days we actually have legit winter weather. Plus the previously mentioned snowstorm really would have been better suited with a coat.
I do love that when it gets the teensy bit cold, people around here still freak out and break out the parkas. Guys, it's 50 degrees. Maybe a sweater or a hoodie. You don't need to be bundled up like the Michelin man. I hope that if I live to be truly old, I will still find this hilarious.
Okay, I'm off to clean and maybe make a sammich or two.
