Yesterday was a parade of wait, wtf from start to finish. From the dude who wanted to know how much the overpriced Charleston calendar was (so I'd walk off and he could steal shit) all the way to the numerous cars that tried to damn near kill us on the way to work last night. Oi. But really, the standouts are as follows:
Sometime soon (maybe?), we're supposed to finally join the ranks of businesses that won't let you in the building for your shift until you've had your temperature taken. They're just (still) waiting on the thermometer for it.
Learned that two floating pharmacists have tested positive for COVID-19. But uh, we're still open and as far as I know no one else has been sent for testing.
I learned that your thyroid can detach and go on walkabout in your body... because that's what's happened to G at work. So a month before my birthday, she'll be having surgery. I'm worried for her and I know she's also kinda freaking out since she hasn't even had a week to process that info yet. :/
(Selfishly, I'm also ticked that they never got us our third person for overnight as this means that I will be working alone for the next forever and possibly get the shaft for my birthday vacation, which I was really, really hoping they'd actually give me this year.)
Oh, and then there was the power going out at ten to seven yesterday morning. Why is it that the one time it would be helpful to have a weather alert like "Hey, surprise! Tropical Storm Bertha, that you didn't even know was named, has decided to make landfall!" nothing happened? OI.
I'd have enjoyed that a lot more if I hadn't been worrying about trying to get home in the resulting mess. It was fine, but still. Surprise tropical storm! In all my years at work, and this includes the summer I worked through many a tropical storm, we never lost power for as long as we did yesterday morning. MAYBE the night SFL K and I nearly had to break out lanterns to see to do our ad tags, but I think that was still slightly shorter.
