let's complain about the weather
Aug. 15th, 2023 05:23 amIt's HOT. It's weird how every year I remember that August spanks July's ass in terms of heat right up until August actually begins and then it's like a whole big surprise each time. >_< The other day, Mums and I stopped at the store and while she ran in, I sat in the car and when I got bored, I checked the temp.

You might be thinking, "83's probably not great but it's not terrible for August in the South, right?" I'm gonna need you to zero in on two more things. 1) It was 6:33AM and 2) the feels like temp? Was 96!
I have not been walking because the absolute earliest I get home is around 6:30 and that's if we don't make any stops and IF I get out of work on time (I never, ever do) and so I've decided that while walking would be great, heatstroke would negate any and all benefits from the walking for now. It's been too hot for the pool, my friends. I mean, I won't lie and say that if we had our own pool I wouldn't be out in it on my days off and probably as soon as I got home most mornings, but walking to and from the pool after waiting for it to open? It's a no in this heat.
I did brave the great outdoors yesterday and hit up Michaels, Homegoods, and TJ Maxx to see if they had Halloween stuffs out yet/what new stuff they did have. I was supposed to also hit Marshalls, Kohl's, and Joanns but by the time I was done with the first three, I was hot and miserable and I also still had to hit the grocery store, which didn't turn out to be that bad since Food Lion had the AC set to fucking freezing.
TJ Maxx continues to be borderline disappointing while still having stuff in store. I did see an updated version of something I bought last year or the year before and they had some cute sheets I seriously debated but held off on. HomeGoods had some AMAZING shit that I would love to buy were I only rich. Note to self: play and win the lottery. I also like to think I brought good luck to the lady who was cruising ever so slowly down one of the kitchen aisles and who dropped two spoon rests on the floor but neither broke or even chipped, despite being super breakable. Such luck!
I'm gonna highly suggest you hit your Michaels this year if you like Halloween stuff or just year round spooky adjacent decor. I suspect some of this is really left over from last year but the combo of the things just made me so happy. You've got creepy, cute, spooky, witchy, kitschy, there's some fun neon, it's probably the best I've seen from Michaels in awhile. I'm not going to try and pretend the prices are good, however. Oof.
In other news, the last of my birthday orders has gotten lost, so now I'm waiting for the maker to resend it. :/ I'm not sure how long it'll take because there's some issue behind the scenes (I follow so many polish makers at this point that they're bleeding into one) so... yay. It's also possible the first (lost) order will appear but I'm not holding my breath. If you're thinking, "uh, your birthday was a month ago", correct, but I saved some of my birthday funds and spent them at the middle to end of the month and then there was a delay with pigments for the polishes, so that added more time and anyway, my package is lost, somewhere. Woe.
I'm off to see if I can find some Halloween sheets. Not to buy yet, just to keep an eye on til I have money. Hrmm. Should probably do my bill stuff, too.
