Oh my poor hand
Jan. 27th, 2025 06:13 amMy poor hand is not happy about the state of things. Pretty sure I'm having an eczema flare-up on my right hand due to stress and all the fucking handwashing and it got to be pretty friggin bad Friday/Saturday because turns out hand sanitizer is basically like pouring gasoline on a fire in this case. Shocker, huh. Anyway, I'd tried to use my storebrand lotion last week and it has that fragrance free scent that makes everything smell godawful, so of course half the time I'd have to wash it off because NOPE. So less than helpful in the long run. Luckily I had the night off so I could slather my hand in Aquaphor and just pray for the best while I slept. It seems to be working, I just have the greasiest hands in all existence right now. Ugh.
In other news, I learned that A went into work Thursday which means I'll either have to lose a night of pay or have to use PTO, which is a bummer. On the one hand, I get why she did (she'd already gone in earlier that day) but on the other, that meant she worked 20 hours in one day. What. The. Fuck. Ma'am, that is not safe for you or anyone you were on the road with. Also, because you did that, you screwed your fellow overnighter(s), namely me. We've talked about this before and how at least for now, inclement weather that forces the store to close because travel to/from work would be too dangerous would still result in the workers being paid. I'm iffy on whether it works if the store is able to stay open because SOMEONE decides that risking their life is fine. I also do not understand why they had her come in if they were gonna close the store to customers at midnight anyway. I guess getting truck done is good enough but still a little vexing. Also also, the fact that she closed early for a night when there wouldn't have likely been that many people out but stayed open (when she was the only person in the store other than pharmacy) on nights when people get real weird and dangerous is just wild to me. So... maybe she finally listened to her shoulder!me telling her that it's not worth the risk... but ignored the risk of going in again? Dunno. It also explains why she was sleeping in her car at work all Friday night. Turns out she was supposed to work but since none of us at the store knew that, we all just thought she was dozing between DoorDash runs. Now I know. I'm petty enough to only feel a little bad about not checking on her (in my defense, the previous times she did this it turned out she really was just killing time between DDing) but also who the fuck was like yes, have her come in after working 20 hours?!
