Because I care. So much.
Sep. 13th, 2005 05:01 amDo you remember when I said something about a sneaky little plan that might not be worth the ensuing aggravation? Yeah, I went through with it anyway. :p Here's the plan.
Using the ever iffy ysi, I uploaded a few songs I like. Consider it a sort of mix CD [you may shudder/twitch/gag at the phrase] where you can, um, ignore the whole CD aspect of it and pick the order you like. Of course you don't have to take a single song, no one's gonna make you. Of course if you're angling for any songs from the CDs of doom I have, then you might pretend to like one of these. Or you can take the idea, twist it, and do it yourself. Music makes the people happy. Unless it's "kill 'em all!" music. Then maybe it's not so much happy... Anyway.
The songs:
1) Stabbing Westward - Torn Apart
2) Jimmy Eat World - Drugs or Me
3) Angie Aparo - Hush
4) My Chemical Romance - You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison
5) OK Go - Return
6) Everclear - Unemployed Boyfriend
7) Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down
Change the xx to tt and you know pretty much all you need to know.
Other things:
Yeah, some songs/artists are misspelled. Some of that's sleep deprivation, some of that is letting someone else name 'em. Go figure. You'll live, I promise. They'll live, too.
If you wonder why these songs and why they're all dudes? Well, blame the girls for hiding. This isn't the originally planned 'set', but after awhile I got tired of trying to find where I hid a certain CD or song, so instead I switched things around. For more specifics, read on.
1) Torn Apart - Stabbing Westward :
This was supposed to be Waking Up Beside You but that one would not copy without requiring about six years to work. So I said "fuckit!" three times and you got this one because it's my second favorite song on the Darkest Days album. Which is the CD I bought the day my last shrink called me a manipulative bitch, which was also right about the time I got dumped by the guy who sent me the first two SW albums. [Btw, it's a little jarring to be happily into the SGs, Spice Girls & Savage Garden, and then get thrown into the SW world. Just a little.] The dude responsible for the nutty? Also had a habit of quoting the whole friggin' album which was vexing once I figured out what the hell he was doing. Anyway.
I never meant to hurt you with the things I couldn't say. I promised you tomorrow while denying you today Love it.
2) Drugs Or Me - Jimmy Eat World :
I like slow songs. You probably couldn't tell that from the previous song, but I do. I also like songs that take awhile to get to where they're going but do it in a way that makes you want the song to last forever. Not exactly easy with a song that's fairly long to begin with. And the icing on the cake? Lookit the title. You can figure it out, I promise.
you're so blind you can't save me this time hope comes from inside and I feel so low tonight. if only you could see the stranger next to me you promise you promise that you're done, but I can't tell you from the drugs
3) Hush - Angie Aparo:
Last minute addition because I couldn't find two other songs. Is it that cool? I dunno, but it's a song I heard one evening live on the radio from some odd station we shouldn't have been able to pick up in the first place. The song got stuck in my head despite being iffy on the live version. Stuck. In. My. Head. That's your warning. It's also fairly good for luring a muse, though not necessarily the muse you want or expect. I have a story idea wrapped up in this song somewhere and one of these days I might actually work on it again.
There's a moment lost in time when she says hush, I'm on your side it's just the two of us
4) You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison - My Chemical Romance :
If you need this one explained to you, you obviously did not pay attention at all during the massive obsession. Obviously. Since this song had it's own obsession and all. It's an odd little song and if you listen to it on headphones you don't miss the fun. Or, I guess, you could have an awesome sound system unlike me. You will let this one run through until the end one time and pay attention. You know why? For the giggle at the end. If you don't listen to the giggle, you're disowned.
life is but a dream for the dead
5) Return - OK Go :
Like the song above, I also had a freakish love affair with this song. I still do, actually, but I'm trying not to go into that too much, okay? Thank you. It's sad, his voice is a special sort of love, and their stuff is really good, but chances are good you're still wondering, "who the hell is that?" Sigh. If you're Charmed-ish, then odds are good you've seen much of the banners and crap featuring the lyrics. Because. It. Is. Love. Deal with it.
you were supposed to grow old, reckless, unfrightened, and old
6) Unemployed Boyfriend - Everclear :
You should know that despite what the contents of my CD collection will tell you, I love Everclear. Love. Thing is, for quite a few years, I didn't need any other albums because Cass owned them so I could just borrow them. Thing is, when your roommate moves out? You lose half the CD collection. :p Annnnnyway. This song is one that always makes me a little happy and a little sad all at the same time and has no real memory attached to it. It's just a song I love and it's a little odd.
this is gonna sound a little obsessive, this is gonna sound a little bit strange
7) Sugar, We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy
... This one gets no explanation nor do you get lyrics. You will listen, you will love and then you will comment. Now. [and if you still haven't seen the damn video, you'll remedy this immediately.]
If you partake of the goodness, lemme know. If you're not because you think all these songs suck, um, better luck next time? Annnnyway. I have a banner to make for someone, some sleep to attend to, and an Ophelia to stalk.
Oh! I did manage to get new shoes. They didn't cost a fortune but they weren't exactly cheap. And for my trouble, I got a migraine because the dude would not shut up with the advertising their sales. Oh. My. God. They weren't even good sales. They were kind of shitty and not worth an update every five minutes.
