Rozen Maidens
Aug. 4th, 2007 08:09 pmYesterday was rainy and miserable all day. It's a bit creepy when it's as dark outside at 9:30 in the morning as it is when the sun is setting in the evening. It didn't get much better anytime I woke up, peeked out the window, and then passed out again. So the purple power hour was postponed until today, where the sun immediately took a nap while I had my camera ready. Go figure, I suppose.
I only have a little bit of time, so I only had enough time to resize/crop/otherwise edit a few from the bunch.

First up, the eye comparison. Apologies to Suigintou, as her eyes look sort of flat in the pic, but they aren't in person. Or maybe they are, they just don't seem that way. Hers are purple and painted with whites and pinks [or is that that dreaded shade that falls in the "is it pink? is it purple?" range?] and are loverly. Bara's shadow is smoky and she wins the eyelashes department by default. They're lovely anyway. Lellow without the glow in the dark tendencies.
For those who pondered, Bara is more of your traditional pale Pullip with minimal makeup going on aside from her eyes. Which is lovely, though sometimes she gives off tomboy moreso than evil super villain of DOOM. Sui is peachier and she's a friend of the lip gloss. Nothing wrong with that.
Onward to the show.

First the girls tried out various places around my room. Most weren't all that accommodating to two girls with very long hair and boots, but they managed to find a bit of a hidey hole near my wedding shoes. Problem is, in the time it took to set them up [two minutes, if that] the sun disappeared, so we had to rely on my two piss poor lamps. Either we didn't have enough light, or they suffered from washout syndrome. Poor girls.

To compare and contrast the hair issues. Bara's has a slight curl at the bottom, and is infinitely silkier. Notice the gloss, the shine, the wow factor. She also wins in regards to her bangs, but since you can't see those at the moment, you'll have to look elsewhere for proof. The downside? The cost of the shine is that it feels a bit like mine does when I haven't washed it in a few days. And it kinda looks it, too.
Sui, on the other hand, has hair that is awfully similar to Afternoon's in color and texture. Thicker, less shiny, and more prone to annoying the piss out of me at times. You can see the wig cap in spots, but I can't figure out if that could be avoided if I just spent the time coaxing her hair into place properly. She also needs the front pulled back or some volume or both, as she looks a bit flat otherwise. Didn't dawn on me until later that I'd forgotten her head piece. Oops.

So, there was a third option on the lighting. Drop the lamp, catch the doll, and have her look creeeeeeeeeeeeeepy.

Souls for the poor?

Then we moved to the box o' light, and realized that type 3's suck for any sort of posing except possibly standing. They do manage that, although with their itty bitty feet I'll never understand how exactly that comes to pass. Also, Bara [maybe all, maybe just mine] doesn't look to the left all the way, so she seems horribly disinterested when you try and make her. Sui manages to look interested in Bara's speech, while Bara does not. Maybe it's a sales pitch.

So they tried lying down. Bara looked so pretty curled up like this. So, so pretty.

But this is my favorite. Naturally it was the very last shot before my memory card ran out of space, eh? Oh yeah, that's the way the cookie crumbles. The sleeves are a bit wonktastic, but still, I love. And you should, too.
Oh, and as to the outfits, Sui wins for me. I'm fairly certain that as I type, it's staining her horribly, but since I want a picture of all three Rozens tomorrow and there's no way in hell I'm going through the pain in the ass torture of assembling Sui's outfit again, I'll fix it when the time comes. Anyway, her outfit is softer, more "pet me, I love you" and I like the style more, I s'pose. Bara's is thinner and doesn't feel as good to touch, but her boots, odd little flower aside, are prettier. They don't have the crease at the ankles and look a little sleeker. But her hair ties are cute, though the ribbons on the back aren't finished, so you know they'll fray. But she can't compete with wiiiiings.
See? I didn't forget. I was merely waylaid by mother nature, feeling under the weather, and um, that guy there. Yeah, he totally distracted me. :P
