arrival of the cutest?

impy...World's fastest shipping? Could very well be. Guess who came today? GuG Kennedy! Which is fun to type. GuG. Tee. Uh, anyway. I didn't expect her here so soon, but the second she arrived, I pretty much yanked her out of her box. Okay, I spent a little time admiring all the languages and then cursing the need for numerous languages on one package in the same country [when they're being shipped to various countries, fine, okay, I deal, so in this case we let it slide] and then admiring the truest case of Delancey looking like Nolee that ever there was. I'd forgotten that GuG Nolancey was, y'know, not Nolee.
Anyway. Boxed:
It's disturbing that for tween, she's cute, but their big selling point for teen Kennedy? She's curvy. Uh, okay... Also, tween Kennedy's got science books and other text books [and driver's ed, apparently], but all teen Kennedy cares about is her stash of fashion magazines. :P I can't help but think B would have had fashion mags and something techie. Oh, Kennedy, you are the shallowest of all the girls, which really says something when you consider La Lohan [I mock because I love?] and the ghost of Barbie that hangs over the line, not to be confused with MS Barbie. Shallow, shallow girl. But cute as hell as a tween.
Seriously:
Despite owning two Little Miss Makeups as well as a couple of other dolls whose big claim to fame was their cold/hot water switch-a-roo, I still found the color change thing for Kennedy to be beyond me. I expected the change to be DRAMA. No... Turns out that she gets purple eyeshadow and her lipstick changes, but they kept kind of meeting in the middle. Like you'd get the ghost of purple eyeshadow, and middle pink lipstick, but it wasn't dramatically different.
So, upon reading the directions to make sure this wasn't some permanent change, I turned the knob on her back and up she sprouted! At first she looked flat as a pancake, and yes, I feel a bit pervy saying that, but dude, you promise me curves, I kinda should notice something other than the freakishly long torso, yes? Yeah, so I tried again. I could see it then. Sorta.
But first, tween Kennedy tries to fit in with First Nolee:
She's so cute, but Nolee's not much of a babysitter.
Teen Kennedy's still shorter, and it's not just the heels:
Yeah, I can't stand the super long torso. It just looks funky and that outfit does nothing but accentuate it. Luckily she's got a dress that covers that right up. So Kennedy plays dress up.
But let's be honest. You wanna know what creepy lurks beneath the clothes. And so, I shall show you. I warn you, your eyes may melt out of their sockets.

You'll notice the legs grow and the boobs, they're squishy. Sort of like the everflex tummy [?] Barbie and company sported however many years ago. Creepy to the touch.
Kennedy's leg... issues peek out from under her dress and I still think she looks kinda wonky as a teen even if I can't see the freaky torso, so she's going to be a tween.
In my ongoing saga, Kennedy's really younger than the other girls but skipped a few grades and learned from the Spice Girls that giant frickin' heels make everything okay. Oh, and fake it til you make it. In the process she gives off this vapid vibe, but people respond to that more than they do the real, dorky Kennedy.
Which is completely different than the story I was previously using, and will continue to use although it'll be confusing. Namely, that Kennedy [she of the fluffy BSC-Stacey perm, cuz you know that's exactly what it is] is a backstabbing, oportunistic skank who took over B's life right before B was mysteriously shipped out to Cali and then her friends forgot all about her. Except Nolee and Delancey and Kenzie didn't. Which is why they disappeared. Conspiracy theories!

It's cool that she can 'grow up' (already imaging someone saying grow up! push the button and woosh up kennedy goes :P) but when I was a kid I always wanted that my dolls looked normal underneath the clothes as well. Meh could be me.
Btw, now that we have a tween and teen barbie... makes me wonder if their clothes will fit type 3 pullips better. Let's hope they'll come with a skipper-like clothing line! :D

And pardon me for shrieking Skipper! I used to love Skipper... and I think I cried when they aged her and then discarded her.
