impyMy mother's day gift finally arrived. I'm not sure 'finally' is the word I should be using, but it feels like it took forever to ship. Now, if only my Gossip Girl goodness would show up, I could stop stalking the mailman. Well, for this week anyway.
I'm weirdly tired and also not. Part of me is exhausted, and I suspect that part is the one whispering "six hours of not so great sleep is NOT ENOUGH" but I'm fairly certain that even if I went to bed right now I wouldn't be able to sleep just yet anyway. My brain is awake. Stupid brain.
On the plus side, dinner was a success. Always good to know that when you're dragged forcibly from your relatively comfy bed that your efforts are appreciated.
I need super pretty wrapping paper. Since I didn't buy the super fabulous gift and went with three nice [but not fabulous] gifts instead, I need to up the wrapping paper goodness. I don't think work will be much help, so I guess I'll have to either sweet talk my brother [doubtful] or... venture out this weekend. And the genius who decided that I should work nine days in a row? Yeah, I'll be kicking him in the shins.
I can't work the weekend after Mother's Day because my father has inventory at his job. So, I have to take Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Normally this wouldn't even be an issue, but Joan's having surgery next week and she'll be gone for the rest of May and a chunk of June. So it'll just be Kathleen and I overnight, and she doesn't work Fridays and Saturdays. Since she'll be covering two days she doesn't normally work, they had to fiddle with her days off, too. Somehow this translates to her getting the entire Mother's Day weekend off [Friday, Saturday, and Sunday] while I work from next Tuesday straight on through til the 15th. I get that in order to give K her two days off in each work week they felt it would be easier to just tack her second day off to her first [Friday from one week, Saturday from the next, and Sunday would be the second in the second week] but who the HELL wants to work nine days in a row, straight through a holiday weekend?
Guys, my weekend off won't be super fantastic fun. I'll be here. Bored out of my skull in a matter of minutes and with no escape in sight. Nine days. JESUS. By day four I'm seriously contemplating murder. Day five is only allowable because it's relatively easy. Also, when I put in for my days off, they told me to go back and re-request them, but use vacation days instead. Sure, whatever. I did. I don't know why since it's not being used as vacation.
On the flipside, I take perverse joy in the knowledge that since no one talked to either one of us about shifting the schedule around and just went ahead and did it, they scheduled me twice for times I cannot work. One is easily fixed, the other involves fucking someone else over.
Sigh. It could be worse. As it is, I think I'll just ignore the impending doom.
