Valhalley of the Dolls

impyOkie, if you want the long drawn out version, I suggest going to TS3. Might post a similar thing elsewhere, but tonight I feel like ranting twice. Whee.
[oddly enough, Oxygen played Valley of the Dolls this afternoon. Weird]
Important stuff first.
I liked the episode so long as I didn't overanalyze things and completely ignored Empathic Annoyance. I didn't love, but it is my favorite of the two hour premieres, so that might help you in figuring out my masochistic levels.
Onward.
Bad [and there was much]
- The most glaring is Phoebe. She's gotten more self centered over the last 5 weeks [charmed time, anyway] and it's to the point that even mocking feels pointless. She's just that fucking annoying. Everything she said could be summed up in three dismissive mocks. "I-I-I", "me-me-me!" or "Sex me up, bitch." I hate Phoebe. Die, skank, die.
- Second most glaring was the fact that this is a rehash of last year's premiere. Only with Piper/Leo supposedly being the starring couple. Not cool. Even less cool when the writer[s?] inadvertantly pointed this out with the spell from last year. Idiots.
Middle ground:
- Valkyrie Piper was usually visually stunning, and Holly emotes all kinds of wonderful. Unfortunately flat Piper is dull Piper, no matter how Xenafied she is.
- Not fond of the killing of the Piper/Leo relationship. I can deal if they eventually get back together [especially if this is the last season], but not if they're kept apart. I really can't because that would just be it. Piper deserves some happiness, and like it or not, Leo gave her that. The writers now suck, and unless Mark or someone equally spiffy came along, she'd get some dipshit like Jason or one of Paige's lame guys. Leo at least has the memory of the good times.
Good Golly, Miss Holly:
- Biker!Piper.
- Valkyries. I liked them despite my fears that I wouldn't. Even miss pink lipstick herself. Sassy brunette, nice blonde, pink blonde, and Piper. what more do I need? Oh, yeah, some emotion from Piper would work. Thanks.
- Paige. Still cute and the hamming for the camera worked in this episode. I hope she gets a better storyline or someone remembers that Paige had a semi-job. [see that godforsaken episode the eyes have it]
- Leo VS Chris. Leo with some spunk is almost always a good thing. Him wanting to kill Chris is a better thing.
Now, the Q&A bit.
How the blue fuzzy did Phoebe pull the power stealing thing off? Unless my brain turned to mush [possible], Chris did this whole song and dance about how maybe it was best if Piper stayed a Valkyrie for a smidge because they were very in control of their emotions. Thus leading me to believe their powers weren't emotion based. However Phoebe swipes the Valkyrie powers through a giant leap of faith on the part of the writer[s]. WTF?
Ah well.
