...You know all the shit I gave new!Ruby? I take some of it back. Not because she suddenly morphed into badass Ruby or anything. She didn't. But I think the sight of Katie!Ruby stabbing everyone in the back (even telegraphing it so freakin' obviously towards the end) would've broken my poor little heart. So... way to take one for the team, I guess? I can't say I'm surprised at Ruby turning out to be using Sam because if there's one thing Supernatural's been pretty good at, it's sticking to the rules it chooses to lay down.
Drinking demon blood, particularly when it would also be their host's blood, crossed a line that Sam should've known not to cross. Without Dean, bad things happen. With him, well, they still do.
Ari was right. The prophet Chuck was worth the wait although I began to get a bit of a headache in the same way I do with time travel when I try and actually wrap my head around it. Bonus points given for the ick factor on Wincest but points off for mocking the fact that it's true: the episodes get really good when someone's been broken down. I know, I know. :P
Annnnnnnyway, S4 was better than I thought it would be. Ruby was a general failure, but I did appreciate the twist that wasn't really a twist where Ruby set Sam up. Points given for Adam and then taking him away just when I remembered that not all sibling additions make the show suck (I remain one of the fifteen or so people on Earth who liked Dawn on Buffy) proving your timing is frequently better than I give credit for.
I still don't fully get the massive collective lust going on for Castiel, but at least I'm one step closer to getting it. Or not. But I appreciate that the backup characters get time to shine and that they aren't always pushed aside for the Winchester boys. Well. Played.
Anna is definitely my vote for best addition for the year. Too bad she went poof. I demand more! Now.
That's right. I end with Lucy on his way up out of the cage and I'm whining about Anna. Brilliant.
