impyIn an effort to distract myself from the obvious (though today's meeting went very nicely and dude, why can't all doctors be like this one?), let's dwell on something completely superficial, shall we?
I meant to mention this last week but things went ass-end up and it was put on the back burner for obvious reasons. Much has been made (in tabloids and the television equivalent) of Billy Ray Cyrus saying that Hannah Montana 'destroyed' his family. I don't remember the exact quote and it doesn't matter since others have gone with the destroyed bit anyway. The general reaction seems to be a combination of "you're mad because she's cut you off" and "what kind of asshole bitches about the cash cow now?" They're acting like this is the most preposterous quote to have ever come from the mouth of a Cyrus family member via the media.
Curiosity got the better of me, so I read the interview. I read that entire damn thing and it is exceptionally long, given what you'd expect. I figured it would be a couple of pages, a picture, and possibly a splash page, depending on whether GQ really thought we needed an additional picture of the man or not.
It keeps going. And going. And, if memory serves, the Hannah quote is buried in the back of the magazine. o_O After having read the blasted thing, I cannot understand why anyone would begrudge the man the sentiment. Regardless of whether you believe that he did not directly profit from his daughter's career, the man's daughter has changed from Daddy's little sweet (but probably mouthy) angel to... well, someone who believes that pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards was a good idea. His marriage hit the skids in a manner most fantastic. His family is fractured.
I think the only truly sensible thing he said in the whole article is that if he had it all to do again, he wouldn't. The price wasn't worth it. How many freakin' movies, tv shows, books, and other assorted stories are we told to illustrate this point? If you're going to jump on something from the article, how about his "friendship" with Kurt Cobain, or comparing Miley to Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson, or hell, his comments about those two in general? Those are way more out there. So, Mr. Mullet Man, the rest of the world may think you're a crackpot for that statement, but this one I totally understand.
Moving along, had lunch for the first time at the hospital cafeteria. Not the most nutritious choice for sure, but hey, the chocolate parfait was a nice way to end it.
Random: whenever one of the parentals is in the hospital, I find it hard not to notice how pale I am compared to everyone else in the immediate family.
