New AG stuff!

Ooooooooh. New AG stuff! I wish they'd done this release yesterday. Then I might not have been so... restless. As it was, I only cleaned a bit of my room and managed a shower. Otherwise I wandered aimlessly because it was too hot to go outside without immediately keeling over. Curse you, mother nature!
Now, back to the AG stuff.

Merry & Bright Outfit & Accessories for Dolls
$64 (combined)

Merry and Bright Dress
$36
Yes. For the holiday releases, I'll share the price pain. This is their traditional holiday dress offering. The last few years their holiday dresses have been red and a silver other option. This, obviously, fulfills the red dress role. Unlike last year's dress which bored me, I find this one pretty damn cute. Figures. It's freakin' expensive is what it is. But it doesn't cheat and split the actual outfit up amongst the accessories and the outfit set, so that is something else going for it. I love the name, but I'm easy to please like that. Sometimes. Anyway, this is coming home with me either when I visit Cass or the very next time they have free shipping. (The taxes in store will be way cheaper than shipping for this.)

Holiday Accessories
$28
So... Snowglobe. I wants you, snowglobe. Will you be like last year's accessories and show up on the clearance page after the holidays, mocking me, or will you sell out and leave me high and dry? I'm not a big fan of the gloves/mittens for AG dolls (or most dolls for that matter), and the "capelet" doesn't do so much for me in the first picture but... snowglobe! Yeah. Shush. Oh, and yeah. That is one of the new dolls modeling the dress.

Frosty Party Outfit
$36
Hey, #55. They've got you hard at work selling the new stuff, eh? Aww. So... I realized why I like the skirt on this, even if it's not so much the length. They chopped the skirt off the Fancy Flowers outfit a few years back (2009) and gave it new life here. Otherwise, I want to like this one, and I think it's one that's going to be prettier in person, but I don't really see it working on any of my dolls as is. Maybe with swapping things in or out, yes. But as it is? No. It's missing something and I don't know what it is. And for $36, I should love it as is, y'know?

Coconut Pajamas
$24
o_O Cass loves these. Me, I'm... not indifferent because I want to like them, but I can't and I'm not entirely sure why, although I do blame the Bratz and their overloading of grey leggings last fall.
However, there is one thing I love truly:

The slippers are awesome. If these go on sale sometime when there's free shipping, I'll probably buy 'em. Maybe. The slippers! Not to be confused with the slippers for girls. x_x Coconut is smirking at me!

Ballet Outfit
$30
The second picture is to show you the underskirt. HTA, my redheaded evil #8 has a habit of acquiring the dance outfits. I don't plan on this, it just kind of happens. Anyway, I like this one, but it's incredibly similar to the 2-in-1 Ballet outfit I already own, only with less black. So this is probably a sale or a free shipping thing one day far, far in the future. It's cute and I do not mock in any way. ($30? Holygeez!)

Sporty Winter Outfit
$34
I... am probably the least sporty person ever, but I think this one's cute. People are bitching that it's a retread of Nicki's stuff (dunno) or that it's over priced at $34 (...ouch), but considering one of the last winter outfits they foisted on us didn't even include pants and it was $28 for a jacket and shoes, well, this is a major step up. I wants. WANTS. Mix and match potential and shoes and... yeah. I wish they weren't thinking that the 30-40 dollar range was acceptable, but I do occasionally accept the price point of pain.
Also available: Snowshoe Set which is pink and orange and $28. I... say no. Thank you, though.

Cozy Sweater Outfit
$28
I... love this. I'm not quite sure about the collar, but I'll allow it because it's just killing me with cute. Hey, not!Ivy. Lookin' good.

Sweet School Dress
$28
If the Cozy Sweater is trying to eat the doll, the Sweet School Dress is trying to swallow the doll whole. I think I can see what they intended, and that would have been cute, but the way this was excecuted? NO. NO. Soulless doll is being eaten right before our very eyes! From beneath you it devours!

I'm curious as to whether this is one of those cases where their horrible photography is to blame or if the style just went horribly, horribly wrong. We'll know soon enough.

Sweet Snowflake Dress for Bitty
$26
Since I'm now in possession of one and a half Bitties, I feel the need to keep half an eye on their collection. Last year's holiday dress is on the clearance page, mocking me because I paid full price for it. Noooooooo. Anyway, this one is... unusual. I like it when the bitty is sitting, but then she stands (which Bitties cannot do) and... well...

It's a bit foofy. Also? Not sure what to make of the brown accents like the shoes:

I shall keep an eye out for it in store and in other people's photos.

Winter Wonder Dress
$24
I really like this one. I'm not sure if it's just "awww!" eating my brain or if it's something I'll actually attempt to pick up for either Bitty of the Damned or Hope. Or do I own Grace? Hell, I don't remember now.

Winter Play Outfit
$24
What the hell is with the sweaters swallowing the dolls whole this year? I mean really, this is what, the fourth one? Geez. That said, I also like this one. I don't have much to say beyond that because, well, it's cute. And it's a baby outfit and they don't need much more beyond "awww, lookit the baby whose outfit is trying to smother it. Aww!" Right? Right.

Little Sport Outfit
$24
Cass is all "Bitty of the Damned is a girl!" and I say Bitty of the Damned is whatever BotD wants to be, k? And I think Bitty needs some casual hanging out clothes.

Sporty Tee Outfit
$24
BotD is all about the casual til s/he dons the red party dress from last year and eats your SOUL. Again, casual.
There are other new Bitty outfits, but I'm lazy, k? So click around from there.

Dreamy Daybed & Bedding
$129 (combined)|| $95 for the bed, $34 for the bedding
Realization: I'm a sucker for doll beds. However, I don't really need another one and especially not one for this much without it being as awesome as some of the others already in existence, y'know? Still, I applaud them for making another daybed as I love those. Boo, hiss for it being so expensive though. I really do think they're starting to price themselves out of their own market because you know damn well Target and Walmart (and hell, even TRU) are going to make cheaper knock-offs and at least one of them will be a much better product for the price.

Baby Grand Piano
$150
Memories of the piano when I was growing up! But no. Lovely and I hope that the serious price hike means this one is much studier than the previous incarnation, but still, no. I do hope someone who can photograph things worth a damn buys one and takes loads of pictures though.

Cozy Sleepover Bag
$28
I still have my original sleeping bags for the AGoT, so I'm good, but this one's pretty. Not a big fan of the price, but hey. They are charging $78 for the girl sized version so... whatever?
Also, rolls into it's own bag:

Sleepover Accessories
$28
Whenever this goes on sale, I'll snap it up. Never played Apples to Apples but I keep hearing about it. Oi. Is cute. Is not my favorite, but I foresee it cropping up on the sale page more than once.

Bubble Bathtub and Shower
$116 (combined) $58 for the tub, $58 for the shower rod
Take a good look at that. Then pop the shower curtain, rod, and pipe off. $58! *flails* WTF, man?!

Toasty
$20
Would you guess that Toasty is a collie? Because I wouldn't. I will not be adopting Toasty, and I'm one of those people who loves collies. Oh, Toasty...
Other accessories have been added, but I'm lazy really, and the link will have to suffice.
Mini Dolls:

25th Anniversary Julie Mini Doll
$22
I don't really comment on the minis because I think they tend to be fairly ugly much of the time, and even the ones that aren't? Tend to photograph ugly. Moreso when AG is at the wheel. I think this Julie is kind of cute though. Go figure.

25th Anniversary Rebecca Mini Doll
$22
See above as to minis. I'm going to keep an eye out for her in store though. I love her Hanukkah dress in big form and the mini form is a pretty good likeness.
Annnnnnnd:

Mini Ivy!
$22
Mini Ivy was the lone historical doll who didn't exist. Now everyone's got a mini! Sort of. Ivy's on backorder so... we'll see. I really wish that they'd give her a new outfit or something though. WOE, Ivy. WOE.
New MyAG dolls, fullsize:

Not!Quite!Lanie
I don't know if she's #56 or #57. I see her and I think Tib from Betsy, Tacy, and Tib. Which is weird because six months ago I had no idea who that was. Weird. There's something kind of off about her in this, but in the picture for the Merry dress, I think she's pretty. Classic mold, however, and I do not get along so from afar we must remain. Gimme some freckles on a non classic mold, AG. Seriously.

Not!Kit
#56 or #57 and she looks exactly like our overnight pharmacist, only in doll form. Especially her online avatar. o_O My mind is being messed with! Make it stop! Anyway. Classic. Thank you, but no.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with everything but the prices, but that's why we hope for sales and free shipping. Also, recon at the store next month, yes? Yes.
Now, back to the AG stuff.

o.O I, uh, don't think doll furniture should cost more than, you know, its real-world equivalent. LOLOL!!
25th Anniversary Julie Mini Doll
Dawn Schafer? Is that you?
(no subject)
Date: 2011-08-31 11:58 am (UTC)I have a hard time paying more for doll furniture than I do my own. Clothes don't bother me quite as much, but furniture? I draw the line. The line is drawn!
And that shower combo thing is just not right, man. Not right at all.
Julie is totally Dawn, only doll!Julie has brown eyes. I may or may not have been interested in Julie to be my AG form of Dawn til I realized that. *cough* Also, to cross the streams further, I swear in one of the pictures from the books, she looks like Hayden Panettiere.

Date: 2011-08-31 02:19 pm (UTC):D I'm stupidly excited for something that hasn't even arrived yet, and probably will not match my expectations...but it's fun to speculate! =)
I may or may not have been interested in Julie to be my AG form of Dawn til I realized that. *cough*
That may or may not be why I find her so interesting and am tempted to read her books, even though I haven't read any of the series books since about Addy, I don't think.
I swear in one of the pictures from the books, she looks like Hayden Panettiere
o.O Weird! I guess someone(s) couldn't make up their mind(s) about the girl's final look? LOL!

Date: 2011-09-03 02:29 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure that's what you're s'posed to do in this fandom! Speculate and hope and when things go ass end up, you get up on your soapbox and you rage. But I really, seriously, cannot see them not going to the 80's if for nothing else other than the fact that their first generation of addicts is now at the stage where they're spawning. I'm betting that will outweigh the fear of making us feel old by making us "historical". :P
Julie - Totally Dawn before the ghosties totally sent her to crazy town. Complete with divorce and having to leave her best friend behind.
