Why is it that merely changing my computer's desktop seems to have changed the way I feel about it? It's weird. Less cluttered even though I didn't get rid of that much crap. Whatever the case may be, I'm happier with it aside from the fact that I miss seeing Widget in the background. Now, for those who wonder such things, it's Rainbow Dash. I'm not a huge RD fanatic (she's more awesome when I remember that she's essentially a retooled Firefly) but she's making quite a pretty wallpaper.

My throat is starting to hurt. *frowns* This had better just be one of those things where you get plenty of fluids and things are fine. Because I do not have the patience for sickness!

As I was poking the AG site to see if the new dolls had been added to the dress-up machine (they hadn't yesterday), it occurred to me that the new short haired brunette was totally post-makeover Mary Anne. You know where this is going, right?

Right?

EXACTLY!



The problem with this little game was that some of them were easier than others. Some required... work. And I'm lazy. I mention this a lot, but really. I can only sustain interest in something that isn't working for so long before I get bored and bail. Still, there were some interesting creations.

Kristy

  First of all, no ponytail so neither is a credible Kristy. I always picture Kristy with lighter brown hair, but I realized that the doll I'd pick for pre-makeover MA would be identical to Kristy... and while it's established that they look enough to be sisters (way more so than Dawn and MA, right? Except no one really expects step-siblings to look alike. Oi.) twins was not the case. So I needed an alternate Kristy and she didn't exist. (Fine. There actually is one with longer darker brown hair, but if I was going to be different, I was going to be Different.) So eye-swapping and tada. Needs collie baseball cap.

Mary Anne

  Yes. In my head, MA has light brown hair even if the book covers usually try to convince me otherwise. Whatever, man. The thing is that once I realized she was MA in my head, I... kind of wanted her for this purpose. D'oh. But I probably won't cave since I'm not a giant fan of the classic mold in person. (Yet I have so many.)

Claudia

  Heh, guess whose fingers mistyped Claud's name? Anyway. I was going to be less lazy and put up a picture of her in an actual outfit and not the same ol', same ol outfit they all are wearing (well...) but lazy. When I was younger and they put out the AGOT dolls, I thought #4 (she is no longer available) would be Claudia. Like I said. Too lazy to go find a picture of #4 to use, and besides. The Jess mold was created for a character who is part Japanese, so I figure I can squeak by with this. Claud can haunt me later for the lack of awesome hair accessories and stuff, though.

Stacey

  Needs more perm. I know. But there's actually a lack of curly blonds with hair long enough to properly register as Stacey for me. (No. I do not count her short hair towards the end of the series.) I figure the covers never could figure out how blonde she was, so I could pick a shade and run with it. So I did. Needs more sophistication, too. But she did get the prettier darker blue eyes.

Dawn

  I'm sorry for the derpyness, Dawn! But she had to be Julie with blue eyes. And their Julie photo blows, but there you have it.

Mallory

  It's possible that the color they actually call auburn would be correct for Mal, but none of them had curls and dammit, Mal's got curls or at least frizz. So I had to fudge this one. I... have to say that if they ever made a redhead who wasn't a glorified strawberry blond of the lightest order (what this girl started out as), and freckled her like mad? I'd buy her in a heartbeat. Classic or no. Just sayin'.

Jessi

  Not sure which mold to use. So Jessi had options.

Abby

  Abbey is supposed to have super curly hair, but they seem to believe you only get really curly hair if you're medium skinned or darker. So... either Abbey has a tan or has somehow lessened the supercurls. You pick. (Both needed eyeswaps sadly.)

Shannon

  I know, the freckles belong on Dawn but you'll survive, Shannon. AG already makes it so you've got super dark lashes, right? Eyeswapped her, too. Realized I do not have a font for Shannon. Makes me sad.

No Logan. So sad. To make it up to you, I bring you...

Kristy Anne incase you see either/both with darker brown hair. Because I care so very, very much about your doll experience in this endeavor. ;)


I need a trip to the library, dammit. But I'm betting they're closed for Labor Day. Sigh.

I'm kind of surprised by how many of these had to be tweaked to exist though. Ah well.

Kristy: In one of the older catalogs there's a picture of a doll in hiking gear and everytime I see it, I think "Kristy!" I... want to say it's the first doll or Kristy Anne. (Same time there was a dress that screamed Dawn.) [/random]

May I present Claudia, the only other viable alternative from the company (thus far):

(My Jess was Claud for Halloween last year. because I ran out of costume ideas and Sam went as Kristy.) Realized after you said she needs longer hair that they don't have a brunette counterpart to Julie's long, straight hair.

Based on Stacey's book, I'll agree with the darker hair, although I never thought of her hair as being that dark. I think I always saw her as blond and Dawn as Children of the Corn white-blond, even if the covers never got that. (Never! What the hell, people?!)

Yup. Abby's hair was a pain and I couldn't get the two worlds to collide as I suck at the not!shop. Luckily, someone else attempted this:

But I thought Abby's one-note was allergies? And then she swiped things from everyone else? :p
