Title: I Killed The Pre-Teen Dream
Word Count: 220
Notes: for the summer-mini challenge and the weakest correlation between prompt and ficlet.
Summary: Of course Mal would be the one to inadvertently break the BSC.
Oh.
My.
Lord.
I killed the Baby-sitters Club.
I killed the BSC. Me. The thought kept running through my head on a non-stop loop. I couldn't believe it.
I didn't even want to mention my writing class and... and now the BSC was over. Done. All because of my writing class. All because of me.
"I, Kristy Thomas, hereby declare that the Baby-sitters Club no longer exists."
I couldn't speak. What could I say? "Stop! You guys are destroying the best thing that ever happened to any of us!"?
My throat tightened as tears continued to fall. Why were they all letting this happen? Were Jessi and I the only ones who still cared?
Not possible. Kristy had to care. The BSC was her baby. She was its biggest supporter, its most avid fan, and its most ardent cheerleader. The club was her life. She wouldn't just let it die, right?
No one said anything even though most of us were crying. Someone had to stop this before-
“Hello, this is Claudia,” she said softly. “The Baby-sitters Club is no longer in existence, but individual members are available at their home numbers. Please leave a message for me at the sound of the beep…”
Before that. Before it was final. Before it was too late.
I killed the Baby-sitters Club.
Afterthought: Yeaaaaaah. I really stetched this prompt. Mostly because I accidentally smooshed two other prompts together and I know that if I wait til I get something nice and proper for this prompt, I'll be waiting til hell freezes. I wasn't sure if I could swap in another prompt (since I already swapped persona out for summer fling), but if I could, this would be incredulously from table 4.

Date: 2011-10-12 06:34 pm (UTC)It's from #100 when the straw that apparently breaks the BSC's back is Jessi asking if they can switch their Wednesday meeting or... something because Mal has that writing class.
Tada! Mystery solved!
