Why did no one force me to listen to this, oh, I dunno, years ago?

You know what this calls for? Musical recommendations! You want to join in, don't deny it. It's okay. I know.

I should warn you: My musical taste topped out about the time I was 17. I'm only kidding a little. Also, the last few years haven't done much for me musically. I'm not sure why. Maybe there's a time for music to save your life/sanity and a time for it to not do much at all. Who knows.

Two Beds And A Coffee Machine: Savage Garden

I love SG, but I'll grudgingly admit that some of their songs don't sound as good today as they did when I first heard them. This one? This one sounds better.

I Don't Know You Anymore: Savage Garden

I'm on a kick. the snow is more lonely than cold if you know what I mean. Oddly enough, I don't think I listened to this during any of my breakups. Go figure since this is pretty much designed for a breakup. Anyway, it's pretty and sad. To spare you, this vid has clips of their other stuff and a big chunk of it is from Crash and Burn, which has the best video ever. Well, maybe not quite best ever, but still.

It's All Over But The Crying: Garbage

Somehow I missed this song til the first season of Gossip Girl when this video, or a similar one, was made and I was bored and... yeah. I am sensing a theme for today's musical choices. o_O

23: Jimmy Eat World

Because it is a law that whenever I push music on other people, I will push this song hardcore. I won't always live in my regret

Drugs Or Me: Jimmy Eat World

Ignore the lyric fail going on with the video (I'm not picking most of these based on their videos). if only you could see the stranger next to me... you promise, you promise that you're done

Stolen: Dashboard Confessional

This one is ignoring my raging dislike of Olivia Wilde and is picked for the song version and the video, simply because I somehow managed to see this thing like, four times in the entire time it was all over MTV. Yes. Back then. When videos were played. Weirdness, I know. But when I get stuck for something I'm writing or working on, I hit this on repeat a couple of times and I either do not care anymore or the writing comes much easier. Make of that what you will.

I'll Be: Edwin McCain

I'm pretty sure there's a law in place that if you're from SC, you have to either not so secretly still like Hootie or you must like Edwin McCain. You do get a choice, but here's the secret: you play an Edwin McCain song and you get two reactions: a sing along followed by "when's he coming to town again?" Every. Single. Time. That said, the woman in this video has always kind of weirded me out.

Poison & Wine: The Civil Wars

Beware writing under the influence of this song. I don't have a choice but I still choose you

Waking Up Beside You: Stabbing Westward

Why hello one of my favorite songs. Long time no see. Can I just say how awesome it is to find the random fandoms that use this song? LoTR. Of course. Who wouldn't see that coming?

I Remember: Stabbing Westward

So their last album together, not counting the best of type thing, was a serious case of whiplash right? But this song was one of the highlights. This one I did listen to like an obsessive type during a breakup... And I cannot recall if Cass and I sent the lyrics to our exes or just seriously considered it. I really can't remember, but that might be to save me from the embarrassment of having to remember. Flipside, I think we both got the exes back, if only for awhile... so maybe it worked. But it probably shouldn't have since her ex was a raging psychopath and mine is an asshole. But there is no more pain which is funny because that night I was dying...now I don't even recognize the girl that I swore that someday I would marry How is that not catnip to the recently brokenhearted?

If you want your brain to wonder why you hate it:

Oz by way of SW.

A Lifetime: Better Than Ezra

♥ (We also suggest hunting up copies of Under You and Live Again)

Please Don't Leave Quite Yet:

Normally shows known for the musical choices leave me cold (either the show or the music) but PLL is usually pretty good about really nailing a song an episode. This is one of them.

Out of Reach: Matthew Perryman Jones

Another PLL find. The scene this highlights actually made me cry. It's so sad.

I'm going to stop now. :p

*starry eyes*

Musical recs! Including "Two Beds And A Coffee Machine"! Hmm...no immediate ficlet inspiration, but I'm always happy to have 'new' songs to file away for potential future use.

*in heaven*

PS "I'll Be" reminds me of the cheesetastic summer that Shawn and Belle fell in love on Days. I'll pretty much never be able to listen to that song and not remember that storyline, LOL.

Curses, I thought I replied, but that was probably when LJ went down for the count. Yay for musical filing aways. :D

I'm blaming Two beds for the weird dreams that would be ficlet like if I were so inclined.

Cheesetastic summer you say? Ah, memories? ;) (Couldn't find the actual song I wanted, so I settled for the one with the video that used to do my head in once a week.)
