Okay, my answer for this could also be used as the answer for #11, so I'll go with the next person in line. As an adult I've come to appreciate Janine Kishi tremendously. But everyone's going to mention her. I'm not sure this is my actual second in command answer, because Janine is awesome, and who doesn't love Mimi or Frodo Pike?
But during my more recent readings, especially of the books I only read maybe once or never at all (the end of the series), I've actually come to really feel for Alan Gray. Given my brief foray into the Friends Forever series, I gather this was intentional. However it works just as well in the regular series. Alan has this weird sort of arc, if you can call it that. He's introduced as the goof every class has. But, like Winston over in SV, he's allowed to date the main characters so long as it's never anything serious. He has a thing for Kristy for awhile and movie Alan likes Dawn, and I want to say he went out with someone else before winding up with Claud in the FF series. Thing is, he starts out a bit annoying, but relatively three dimensional for a background character.
And then things go to hell pretty fast. Alan and Kristy feud in a way that in ANY other series would end with them dating. He's annoying and if Cokie isn't fucking with the BSC, and it ain't a mystery or Cary hasn't appeared yet, you know it's Alan. Hell, it's probably STILL Alan if the others are in the mix and if it isn't? Kristy sure as hell thinks it is.
But I guess as the series started to wind down, glimpses of the old Alan come through. Alan realizes that he's gone way too far in the past and that changing so that anyone notices he's changed is going to be damn near impossible. He's hurt when he's seen as nothing more than a joke, and an annoying one at that, and my big ol' softie heart feels bad for him. I swear, the one two punch of Stacey's Movie and the Stolen Hearts mystery is enough to make me want to smack someone into giving Alan a hug.
I like that Alan (and Pete) actually seem to realize they're in hell. They're forever 13, forever in middle school, and for Alan, he's going to forever be seen as a jackass because he's had like twenty years of being a thirteen year old boy and after the first couple, you really gotta think outside the box. Which results in no one really liking or trusting you.
And then he tries to change in a series that would never fully allow it. (And it didn't. He had to wait for a spin off that never really took off.)
So, Alan may not be my actual favorite minor character, but I find him way more interesting than I probably should or ever did as a kid.

It's cold. I need a shower and to put away the enchiladas. Yummers! But they were huge so I couldn't have more than one. Which is just as well because they taste even better reheated. ^___^
