impy: tori from jackie's strength video (not so spiffy)

Well. That was ... interestingly different. And yet I really can't tell you if I liked the episode or thought it was just pretty much the antithesis of what the show used to be about. Jesus.

On the one hand it was a dark episode that didn't focus on Phoebe. It was a dark episode that didn't answer all the questions and probably created more questions than answers. On the other hand, it smacked of trying really hard to do that. But that wasn't the real problem for me.

The real problem screamed itself into existence about the time the big fight happened and my brain finally got over the feeling of being very disoriented and said, "hey. this has nothing to do with the sisters except this is between Piper's spawn [and let's be honest, even my land of denial is wearing thin with Chris not being a Piper spawn, although I hope to the wonder that is Prue that he isn't.] and even that's really stretching it. This is all about Chris and to a lesser extent Wyatt. Hell, they couldn't even send the girls here to watch and cheer one of them on. WTF is this?" Might as well have had Kern come out and say, "This is the show I wanted to make, but that bitch Constance wouldn't let me."

The show ain't about Chris, it's not about skanky Bianca, and much as it might pain some to say it, it's not all about Wyatt either. They're the backup/guest cast.

If the show can manage to balance this thing out and make it seem like the Charmed Ones actually have some sort of purpose other than eventually dying, then I might look back and eat my words. But I don't know if they can since this episode also gave way to the biggest leap of faith since the mysterious 4th sister.

Keep in mind I'm a geek, and I used to read and collect comic books [shut.up], but other sci fi stuff also follows the same basic premise. Chris goes back in time to stop tyrant Wyatt. If Chris manages to do this and the future gets happy sunshiney Wyatt instead, Chris's future is changed and thus he has no future to return to, even if he somehow manages to avoid being wiped out [like Piper was in [i]Witch in Time[/i].] So how in the HELL did Chris and Bianca who obviously weren't too stupid, not figure this out? That they may love each other to bits [as obvious by Chris's various flings :p] but come on. If there was no tyrannical Wyatt, what the hell makes them think they'd have met/fallen in love? And that little thing ruined the whole damn episode for me. :p Stupid considering it's obvious Chris failed in his little mission [since evil Wyatt was still brooding away] but yeah. Headache.

Same rant, different tune. Bianca looks at Paige and makes this remark about the power of two, yet Chris made it pretty damn clear that Paige died when the Titans came a knockin' last May. So unless the future wasn't really changed by Paige living a little longer [which doesn't seem likely since they are the Charmed Ones], continuity has died yet another horrible death, even in an episode that tried ever so hard to keep it alive.

Another nitpick [yeah, I'm back in overly wordy form.] : If Chris had no powers, he should have frozen. Unless it's just the Charmed Ones who are rendered normal when stripped of their powers, which just doesn't seem fair.

Other stuff: I hate the idea of them going off separately since you know it won't work, and if it does, it'll throw the show off kilter. But I can live with it assuming that they get their asses kicked or choose to move back in voluntarily. Whatever. Don't like the idea of Piper and Leo not being together and each week I get more and more annoyed. Which is great if this is what they're shooting for, but bad because, well, I say so? No real comment on Phoebe this episode, so take that as you will. Piper's shirt when they saw bitty Bianca? Ugly. *weep*

Yeah. Quite the cussing match for that episode. I'm torn in two. Did I like it, did I hate it, and why did Kern dance across the scream screaming "if only there were room for Julian too?" and how did someone not pick up on the fact that... well, it's in the cut review. Grrrrr. Grrrrr, episode!

But I did get a 45 minute discussion with Arianne over it. Like, who is Chris, and why the hell don't things add up? Plus I was outted as one of those geeks who read and enjoyed Phoenix II from Excalibur/X-Men. [dude, now that was a fun jaunt to the future, okay?] Or I would have been if I'd had the convo with her boyfriend. ;)

So, the boy left his son here all fucking afternoon. Parts of this were fun. Parts were annoying. Where was the boy? Seeing 96 Wavefest. Three Doors Down were about the only real draw for me, and it wasn't worth $25+ to see them and 4/5 other bands. Amused that all the commercials kept ending with "get your tickets now, they will sell out" and guess what didn't happen? Yup, you guessed it.

Oh, and the Spice Girls Behind the Music was the nicest BtM they've ever done and the most pointless. It made the Weird Al one look informative. It's an hour of stuff even people who didn't know who they were knew! With the only two with semi successful solo careers since, even though the special trashes that! Yay!

Bah.

So, everyone go mob Talula and wish her a happy birthday, kay? :D

You know what I am just now wondering? When they (Bianca and Chris) were in the halliwell manor, why didn't the witch scanners sense Chris was a witch? Especially since he didn't freeze later on in the attic.
