And down drops the glitter bomb
Sep. 6th, 2013 04:56 pmSoooooooo... I checked my email before going to bed and noticed an email from the Disney Store that mentioned the Animators' Collection being re-released with updated dresses. You might recall that I fell in love with the dolls their first go round so I decided to forego sleep and check to see this newness.

The original line-up.
Yeah, um, some of them are really obvious in their changes but I'll be damned if I can figure out the differences on others. (And some are more obvious now than they were this morning because computer screen is much larger than phone screen.)
Clearly not my photos, btw.

Belle is pretty obvious. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she looks like she mugged Tarzan's Jane for her dress. I get what they were going for, I really do, but they fell flat. I also happen to think she was cuter beforehand. And finally, you'll notice that with this release, they lose their 'sidekicks'. In this case, buh-bye, Chip.

Snow White is somehow both fancier and simpler all at the same time. *shrug* Snow is one of those characters I am usually meh about in general unless they do something incredibly different. (I also hate Snow White's voice more than any other character on the planet. I hate it so much that I block it out for years on end.)

Ariel's pretty subtle too, aside from Flounder going MIA. I actually like the updates on this one and if I buy anyone, it'll probably be her. (So if you hear of a sale, lemme know!) I think she's actually one of the better updates because the scale definition helps immensely.

Since Punzie is my princess, I checked her out first and while I was told there were differences, my phone and I couldn't suss them out. Well. Now I can with this comparison shot but the differences are so slight. I do like the new material for the 'skirt' part of her dress. I wonder if it made the jump from proto to reality?

This updated edition wears a variant color faux suede dress.
No. No she really doesn't as far as I can tell.

The others who didn't get comparison shots.
I'm glad I got my Briar when I did because this version is particularly uninteresting to me.
