Good golly Miss Molly

I promised to share pictures of my new Molly doll and I did take them yesterday, but when I woke up from my nap, I noticed I had a text from the boy. My oldest cousin was stopping by here for dinner... and we had like, four hours to clean. Which sounds like a lot but really isn't.
So. Pictures aren't the best but hopefully they'll do?

Molly lookin' short and squat. Sorry, Molly.

Let's try that again.
Presenting Miss Molly McIntire!

She's not wearing her glasses or her hat because I don't want to mess up her braids before I absolutely must. Also, Miss Olly Molly has assured me that she is just fine wearing the chocolate glasses when I get around to it. Until then she and I will stumble around blearily every so often. Or we'll pretend she has contacts. Whichever.
If you give me long enough, I will sing you a song about how much I dislike the Classic mold for the AG dolls. Dislike might be a tad harsh, but yeah, it isn't my favorite... by a long shot. That said, I think Mattel has a variation on it that is rather adorable. (They also have one that is decidedly not and it's a crapshoot as to which one you'll get.) I think the Mattel era dolls benefit from the face paint that has either worn off from the PC girls or wasn't really there to begin with.

Molly is adorable and I think Cass picked a great one. The fact that her bangs are messy is just an added bonus.

Like Samantha, Molly's Meet shoes are embarassingly bad. Why they never changed these despite having better options (see Molly's shoes and socks set, or Ruthie's shoes, or any other pair of shoes they've done, EVER, aside from Kirsten's Meet boots) I will never, ever know. I mean, they changed Molly's accessories to get rid of a really simple thing, why not change a really ugly pair of shoes? Oh, so that you'll be forced to buy an outfit just to get rid of the shoes. I gotcha.

Molly is ready to show off her purse but Ozma has other ideas.

Sadly, by this time my camera was telling me to die in a ditch so... Molly's purse is very simple and not unlike a few purses I had as a child. It unsnaps and you can put her stuff inside if you want.

Like her hankie and her money which is a steel penny.

But wait, there's more!

If you'll direct your attention this way, we'll show you that in addition to buying Molly and her accessories (the store was sold out so they had to ship them to me but they got here really, really fast) we also bought Emily's accessories.

Mostly for that sweater, I won't lie. I also really dig that you can put together her photo album yourself.

Emily's parents.

If you'll look at the book in front of you, you'll see a vellum envelope to the left which is where the pictures and Emily's ration book (with a note from her mum) are kept. She's also got a three pence piece and the bit in the plastic bag is her set of dog tags.
Molly's accessories were her hat, her silver locket (used to come with a photo of her father but I'll have to print one out myself), her purse, her hankie, and her penny.

If you've ever wondered my opinion on the Meet Accessories, wonder no more because here it is:
I feel most are overpriced at $24. That said, some of them do contain important pieces that are must haves either to the character or just a nifty thing to have.
I probably would have passed on Molly's accessories if not for her locket, but they're cute enough to not be a complete waste. On the flipside, I consider Kirsten's Meet accessories a must have if you collect for her because she should never be without her amber heart. Ever.
Emily's are in a class of their own. They contain an activity as well as a useful piece of clothing so I had them on my very, very short list of things I wanted to buy.

So... I bought Molly and her accessories, Emily's accessories, some doll do hair highlights and... oh, you want to see the blue one in action?

(Package without the blue inside.)

Yeah, my camera hates Lane. It would not focus on her. At all. WTF, camera?
Anyway, these are a bit of a bitch to get into the hair because at first you're thinking, "Oh, clip in, brilliantly simple!" and then you realize no, you have to clip it where it'll actually get seen but also not pop through the top layer of hair. Geez, it still shouldn't be that difficult and yet... and yet.
Anyway, the extensions are longer than Lane's hair but I suppose that if you braid them or curl them that would be less obvious.

The blue is a really pretty shade. Ivy is a little envious because in order for her to have a set, I'd have to buy her one and then cut them to be the proper length.
Speaking of Ivy...

Ivy is wearing the store exclusive shirt I bought myself. :) (Also bought one for z and one for Cass but none were the same shirt style.)

It's really simple and I originally went in looking for this purple outfit they have but then I saw this shirt and despite my love of purple, I just knew Ivy would look adorable in this. Probably because Ivy is adorable as hell.
Seriously, I think Ivy should be a part of everyone's collection.

And this has been Meet Olly Molly. We hope you've been charmed as much as I have been.

Bonus picture!

Date: 2013-11-04 05:31 pm (UTC)I like the highlights too, but you can get some for waaaay cheaper than however much AG is selling them for. Here's an ebay link I just found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/150800131200?lpid=82
They're so cheap you could buy a bunch and trim them up to fit Ivy's hair. I bet she'd look great with turquoise, purple, or green. :D

Date: 2013-11-04 08:05 pm (UTC)So many colors, Ivy is going to be rolling in the hair extensions when next I have money. :D
On the plus side, expensive as the highlights were, they didn't go the route I assumed they would have when images leaked and sell them separately so they could properly jack the prices up that much more.

Date: 2013-11-04 08:07 pm (UTC)Yay for Molly tying into real people! I'm just sad that Molly is being archived at the end of the year. All the originals will be gone then. :(

Date: 2013-11-06 09:47 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sad that Molly's archival was met with less "No! The originals are gone! Poor Molly!" and more "FINALLY, that brat has been here too long." Woe.
But mine is cute and truthfully that matters more. Sometimes. ;)
