Isabelle landing
Jan. 1st, 2014 10:53 amHoly madre de dios. The sheer number of pictures for what is actually a very small AG release is just staggering. I am also falling asleep, so I may split this in two or something.
We're going to concentrate on Isabelle. Random, but if you totalled up all of her stuff I want, not including the super expensive item I want to chop up and sell for parts, it would be $236. That said, that also includes a few items I'm on the fence about and it could all change once pictures that aren't stock appear.
Let's begin with Isabelle herself.

Isabelle is $120 and yes, that does mean there was a price increase for her. The reasoning seems to be a) she's Limited Edition and thus worth more and b) she has this weird new hair extension that gives her pink ombre tips.

She's a blond, classic mold with those hazel eyes that read green 99% of the time.

When she was first announced I wasn't all that fond of her outfit. Yeah, it's grown on me. Exactly like a fungus. :P Shirt, underwear, hair extensions, and weird pants. Wait, something is missing and I don't mean either the doll or the book!

Golden pimp shoes. Sandals. Or something. I liked it better when I thought they weren't strappy in the back. Weird.

Shirt is a shirt. Random factoid, but this pink is pretty much the shade of pink in her hair, at least when photographed since the pink tips blend in with the shirt. Not the best planning ever, AG.
Oh, and you can also opt to get her ears pierced right off the bat. Not sure if this is a new thing or not, but there you go.
Overall? Isabelle the doll is pretty enough, but while I don't have a ton of blonde dolls, I have plenty of classic molds. Thank you, AG, but no. Your stubborn refusal to make this character anything more than white OR give her a different face mold will result in me not buying her. (And yes, I realize that with the Josefina mold she'd be a dead ringer for McKenna only guess what? She's a dead ringer for Lanie with straighter hair so... )

Isabelle's Accessories are $30. Let's quote AG, shall we?
Your girl can get Isabelle ready for a busy day of dance lessons with these accessories:
A glittery gold purse
A metro pass and school ID for when Isabelle rides the city bus to Anna Hart School of the Arts
A black cotton jacket that has an asymmetrical zip front and a dance graphic
Coral armwarmers she can layer on to stay warm
An enameled hairpin with a pretty flower design to keep her hair neat
Isabelle's name is on the jacket but you know what? I don't care. I like the jacket enough to look the other way. It can be a brand or something, man.

I mean, look at it. Black jacket. Want.

Need. Must have. And so on.
Overall: Yes, I will be buying this. It's up in the air as to whether I'll wait for free shipping or bite the bullet before then.

Isabelle's Pajamas are $24
When the sun dims its spotlight on Washington, D.C., Isabelle says goodnight in these dreamy pajamas:
A tank top printed with a cascade of silver foil dots
Sparkle-knit pajama pants with a fun faux-wrap detail
Soft ballet-style slippers with satin bows
A pink satin headband with a studded bow to pull back her long blond locks.
Closer looksee:

Normally you'd have me at pajamas and purple, but I don't like this faux wrap thing. Also, they're blah. I do like the slippers but that's about it. Put these on sale, AG, and maybe we'll talk.

Isabelle's Performance Set is $38
Isabelle designs this spectacular costume for her Waltz of the Flowers ballet performance. It includes:
A sleek unitard
A flowy tutu skirt made of layers of mesh and tulle
A show-stopping corsage of satin flowers embellished with ribbons, mesh, rhinestones, and sequins
Shimmery satin dance shoes with crisscross ankle ribbons
A starry rhinestone tiara and jeweled wristband that dazzle in the spotlight

I dig the shoes, man. That said, this is one of the few (the only?) outfits of hers that comes with ballet-type shoes. Otherwise you have to buy the sets and that's just a crock and a half, really.
I think this one has a lot of potential for fun and thus it will follow me home sometime, even if the price hurts me deeply.

Isabelle's Metallic Dress is $34 and the last of her outfits to leak.
Isabelle has an eye for design—she loves the gold mesh and sequins on this dress! Isabelle adds purple tights, a faux-leather belt, and coral ballet flats with bows at the toes to create an outfit that's truly unique.
I think this is an outfit that suffers horribly from someone's version of styling. First of all, it washes Isabelle out completely. Not even the pink can save her. Woe!

And those tights. Really?

See? Not so bad. Maybe not $34 worth of not bad, but still.

Cute but very basic shoes.

Isabelle's Kitten, Tutu is $22.
You had me at kitten, AG. I'm thinking free shipping time for Tutu.

Dance Barre is $65.
Girls can give Isabelle the perfect place to practice her pliés! This set includes:
A ballet barre
A foam yoga mat so Isabelle can stretch to warm up
Ballet slippers to help her glide on the floor
Pink pilates straps—your girl can slip them over Isabelle's hands or feet to help her hold a pose!
A faux water bottle to keep her hydrated
A purple support bandage that wraps around her ankle
Um... no. I resent the whole "pay a fortune for the shoes!" money grab going on here and also, this picture kinda weirds me out:

I feel as if Gomez Addams will be by any second asking if Isabelle is through with the rack because Morticia would so love a spin.

Isabelle's Dance Case is $44.
When it's time to dash off to rehearsals, Isabelle carries all of her gear in this dance case. Her mix & match outfits (sold separately) fit inside, too! Set includes:
A faux-leather case with an inside satin pocket—perfect for keeping everything organized
A "bun helper" that Isabelle uses to twist her hair into a tidy dance style
12 elastics
8 bobby pins
3 hairbands
A pair of ballet slippers
Gem stickers to decorate the case for a little extra sparkle

The other money grab for the shoes. I shall pass on this, too.

Isabelle's Studio is $275. This is the piece I want to buy and break up the pieces for resale. Thus far my cheapness (it ain't gonna be light) and my lack of money are the only things stopping me.

This studio is the perfect place for Isabelle to do the two things she loves best—dance and design! This 24-piece set features a beautiful armoire, sewing table, sewing machine, and lots of accessories.

Isabelle could spend hours in her studio—it has everything she needs to practice her dance routines and work on her fashion designs:

A beautiful white armoire with mirrored doors and ballet-barre handles—it opens to reveal drawers, fabric pockets, and a sewing table
A pretend sewing machine that lights up, with a needle that moves at the touch of a button
An upholstered stool with a yellow bow tied around the legs
A dress form with a copper-colored base—perfect for designing her dance fashions
Three fancy hangers to keep outfits organized
Three faux spools of thread that fit on the sewing machine spindle
Three fabric swatches for her original creations
A sewing basket that holds a fabric pincushion, pretend scissors, and a mini measuring tape
A sketchbook for planning designs
A paper hatbox with diamond graphics for storing supplies
Three black-and-white photos to decorate her space—one is signed by her idol, Jackie Sanchez!
Two tickets and a ballet program for the Autumn Festival

The two items people wanted most. Sewing machine and dress form. Both lumped in with a piece of furniture that's likely pretty heavy.

Who wants to talk me into or out of this madness?
And now the mix and match stuff!

Coral Sweater $14

Wrap Sweater is $14 (on the fence about this one since I have a black version of this...)

Rosette Leotard is $10.

Practice Top is $8. Nooooooooope.

Dance Skirt is $12.

Funky Leggings $12 (also a no)

Sparkly Skort $12

Scrunch Pants $12

Tutu $14

Legwarmers Set $12 (you had me at totally 80's. Sigh.)
And since all of these seperates can be mixed and matched (some to disastrous results), AG has taken the guess work out of things and shows you how to create 20 different looks. You'll notice quite a few utilize shoes you have to buy in one of the large sets. I hope this bites them squarely on their ass because that's just wrong. Nowhere on any of these assembled sets does it tell you that the shoes aren't included in any way. You just have to be more awake than the average dad to figure it out. Bite them on the ass hard, angry parents. Bite!
Anyway, some of the looks. And by some, I might mean all.
And away we go!

Mostly I am left wanting that coral sweater and some other stuff. It's nice to have no interest in the doll whatsoever and feel confident that no matter what the rest of the year brings, I am not going to buy Isabelle. Her stuff, yeah. Um, probably. Isabelle herself? No. Safe! Score! Goal! And so on.
Now to find a contest to lose and get cracking on those books. Come on, Amazon. Ebooks are your thing, right? Geez.
There's also new tennis gear, a new Valentine's Dress, and some Valentine's accessories. May edit them in, may just wait til later.

Date: 2014-01-06 04:02 pm (UTC)Yeah, I thought it would be gone altogether and could even understand like $5, but $15 compared to all the others that went nowhere or only went up a few bucks? Blarg. Not sure free shipping will compensate for that and they don't usually do other sales, right?
Haha, yeah I don't know why it's not a full-skirt and just pant-wings or whatever those are.
Right?? The first thing I thought was "Heel blisters!!"
Jacket is swank!! Do you have it pegged for someone already? Let us know your opinions when you cave!
Riiiiiight?? Just sayin'. :p
I say if you can afford the investment, then go for it! They do seem seperate enough that if you don't want the design end, the wardrobe is nice on it's own. I like that you can put the little pictures in it. I'm not keen on the purpleness of the sewing machine and knowing there's a cheaper dress form out there, I don't think you'll miss it!
I know!! I keep meaning to get everything set up and then fall asleep on the couch or something else comes up. >_< Kaya did come early Saturday! Face has shiny marks, but hopefully those can be dealt with. I was just looking for cheap on ebay, so no idea! I did get outbid on that one with the insane shipping, so I don't have to worry about that situation now. And still looking for the ideal Felicity situation. I thought prices would go down now, but I guess people are using Christmas money or trying to get the gifts they wanted, but didn't receive? Some prices are higher than they were BEFORE Christmas. But, I went spend-crazy anyways, so probably best to stop looking until the Summer lull anyways to recoup some funds first!

Date: 2014-01-06 05:00 pm (UTC)Sale wise, they might do another round of daily deals, especially either this month or as we inch closer to Easter. Then I think the only sales prior to CM are the ones in late spring (May-ish) that clear out stuff, which isn't likely to help in this case. :(
*snicker* Pant wings makes me like it more, though.
Jacket: Not sure who will claim it first, actually. Maybe Sonali? My brain keeps conjuring up pictures of it on the Sonali MyAG with straight hair and I'm having to remind myself that I don't have her. :P Mebbe MG will surprise everyone and swipe it, or Cecile will. I suspect it'll be coming home soon. Hurry up, payday.
Wardrobe, you will be mine as soon as we hit free shipping OR if Cass makes good on her threat to hit Atlanta again after she gets her taxes back. (Whichever happens first, I guess because holy frick, $30 in shipping is not my friend.)
Kaya! Kaya! I wish you luck on shine marks but trust that you two will sort them out. What's the ideal Felicity situation? Mattel? PM? Or the reddest hair one can find?
I was poking around ebay to see if anyone had put the sewing machine up on its own yet (not that I've found?) and then got sidetracked by looking for a Chrissa. And ran into someone who clearly has too much money because they had like, 7 Kayas.

Date: 2014-01-06 05:09 pm (UTC)Oooh, I was sad that that end of the year deal didn't pan out, but there still might be another incoming? Hooray!
Yay, AGP trip!! Holy hell, that is nuts!
Mattel Felicity. I don't like the round faces on the PM ones. And I like her lazer eyes. Would prefer the reddest hair, but that seems to be the hardest, so I'll takes what I can gets. Trying to get her in her meet outfit at the very least, and if there's accessories or more, all the better! Still coveting the riding outfit for her.
You missed earlier this morning then! Don't know if it was the same person, but there were like 10 Carolines, 6 Josefinas and someone else I believe. All free shipping and the same picture used? Yeah....seems totes legit. Pretty sure Caroline wasn't at the discount sales and even then, that's quite a lot of dolls. Aw, Chrissa is cute! I rather like Mia, too. And Lanie. The classic molds are so random though. Most of the time I'm meeeh, but every now and then there's one that's like "Omg, she's too cute!", so it really takes looking at the pics on ebay. I'm sad that I missed out on this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/American-Girl-Doll-Blonde-Hair-Brown-eyes-18-doll-Pleasant-Co-12-2008-/251410480992?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&autorefresh=true&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=2FfqYe57ik%252BfzUIJNOgdEezKYmY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Can't even say that if I got one new, that I would like her as much, considering the Saige-deadface-syndrome.
