AG Roundup 2/2
Jan. 4th, 2014 02:56 amOh, hey. Look, it's part two of my AG new stuff postapalooza. You're welcome in advance. ;)
January's release is guaranteed two things:
1) GoTY.
2) Valentine's Day stuff.
Everything else is gravy.
We've been through Isabelle's junk (and by junk, I mean holycrap I want too much) so it's time to investigate Valentine's goodies. And other stuff.

Pretty Pink Outfit is $28.
Your girl's My American Girl® doll will be oh-so-sweet in this confection of an outfit! It features:
A dress with a glittery "love" graphic on the front, tiers of satin ruffles at the skirt, and a big printed bow tied at the back shoulders just for fun
A fancy bracelet
Pink sandals with bows at the toes
A "Strong" rectangle charm for the doll's charm-keeper necklace
Yes, AG, please do release a sleeveless Valentine's Dress on the eve of a massive winter superstorm that is even making the South remember that it's cold outside. Because looking at this thing isn't making my toes turn blue at all. AT ALL.
It is. Clearly. I'm torn on this. I think it's cute, but my brain keeps trying to add cap sleeves to it and when I tell myself they don't exist, I don't like it as much. Maybe this over one of the pink shirts I own would be cute? I don't know. I never thought of myself as a pink girl but you throw a Valentine's Day thing at me in pink and I jump. Weird. I've seen people's pictures that make this look cute and people's pictures that make this look incredibly overpriced and shoddily made. We'll give in some time.

Oh, wait, it's also time to release some accessories!

Friends Are Sweet Set is $20.
My American Girl® dolls can show their friends how much they care with this sweet set:
A faux cookie bouquet to share
A shiny pink balloon she can really hold
Five heart-shaped cards to display on a ribbon garland or give to friends
Includes a bonus for your girl: she can make her own cookie bouquet with the two heart-shaped cookie cutters in a little mesh bag, plus cookie-decorating tips!
You can make tiny little doll cookies! And tiny little people sized cookies! *dead* Um, I may totally be planning on buying this. Don't judge too harshly!
What else do you have for us, AG?
New Tennis Set!

Tennis Outfit is $38.
My American Girl® dolls can serve up some fun on the tennis court! This set includes:
A cap-sleeved polo top with an embroidered Innerstar University® logo
A pleated tennis skirt
A terry wristband and matching headband
Ankle socks
Lace-up athletic shoes
A yellow tennis ball
A pink-and-gray tennis racquet she can really hold
A "Fair" rectangle charm for the doll's charm-keeper necklace
Why did you put that ugly ass Innerstar U logo on what is an otherwise pretty darn cute outfit, AG? Quit trying to make InnerStar U happen! I have no idea how decent a tennis outfit this is, but maybe
luxken27 has an opinion?
What else does AG have for us?
Underwear sets? Okay...

Heart Tank Set is $12.
*shrug* Not really my thing but cute enough.

Pink Tank Set is also $12.
I want this set although I never really got the point of actual underwear like this. It's just not practical unless this is what you're using as PJs. In which case, carry on.
New shoes:

Canvas Shoes and Platform Shoes are both $14.
(I kinda dig both pairs but $14 is a little steep. And by a little, I mean a lot.)
New Glasses!

Rosy, Turquoise, and Lime are each $10. Only Lime isn't on immediate backorder until mid January (turq) or the end of February (rosy). There's a reason for that. I like the look of the turquoise ones in this shot but someone had pictures from a store and they look pretty crummy in those. I like the Rosy ones though.
You can buy the Charm-Keeper Necklace on its own now ($8) and my favorite "wait, what?" addition is this:

American Girl Gift Box for $5.
This all-in-one gift box set makes wrapping a snap. The 6" x 6" box is printed with glittery stars, and features pretty handles for easy carrying. Includes white tissue paper, plus a matching gift tag and berry ribbon for the finishing touch.
This is actually probably the best bargain AG offers. :P Gift boxes are usually either ugly or not cheap and this comes with tissue paper, gift tag, and a ribbon. It's pictured with a book, an outfit, and accessories so size wise it's got to be decent.
Sadly, you cannot giftwrap the gift box.
Oh, and there's some Bitty Twin stuff but nothing so cute as to say "share me!" and BB has a new purple hedgehog friend. Which is just as terrifying as you might imagine.

Date: 2014-03-11 10:53 pm (UTC)And of course she's a Josefina mold. I think all of my favorite dolls are! But even though I've got my Josefina and Cecile literally right next to each other I still can't tell that they are the same mold. So that's a good thing I guess. :D

Date: 2014-03-11 10:59 pm (UTC)There are tutorials online for how to eyeswap and there are people who do it all the time and it's not a serious thing for them because they have unlocked Badass Level _whatever_. I suspect that if the "true" redheaded #61 ever comes out, I'll swap her eyes and hair onto a Josefina mold doll, which means I'll have to either get brave or find the eye-swap people.

Date: 2014-03-11 11:13 pm (UTC)Caroline uses the classic mold, right? I was surprised at how pretty I thought she was when I saw her in the store.
I can't figure out why they would go to the trouble of creating a whole new mold for Marie-Grace and then never use it for another doll. That just doesn't make sense.

Date: 2014-03-12 08:37 pm (UTC)I don't understand the MG mold thing either. I've heard perfectly logical arguements from both sides on whether the mold will get used again. Some think that the adults are the only ones (for the most part) not liking the mold and attributing much of the DOA of NOLA to the MG's face. And then I remember how many people saw the first few pictures of MG and recoiled in horror so...
It sadly wouldn't be the first time they did a one and done on a mold. #4 never got used for anyone other than her (and she's gone) and Kaya retains exclusive rights to her mold. That one, at least, one could argue reasons for keeping it just for Kaya.
I'm hoping that MG's mold will reappear in the fishbowl of MyAGs.
