impyUpdatey goodness: I went to the hospital this afternoon to visit A. I timed it kind of well, in that her mother came back from talking with the doctor and this is what I heard:
Doctor says her MRI is perfectly fine, there's actually no brain damage and that her scan looks like what his brain would look like. It's a miracle! is allowed to run through your head, yes. Everything is fine and we're now at the waiting stage for her to wake up properly.
She wakes up a little, opens her eyes, and I got a wave. :D
I do wish I'd been allowed to have like, three minutes to myself instead of being in with her mother and her grandmother, and then her mother-in-law. It's weird to know what to say when people you know but don't KNOW are hovering and looking at you like, "Well say something." Um.... hi? I don't even really have news in my life aside from, "Sooooo... you're in a coma.... that's my news."
Which isn't entirely true. I'm pretty sure we've narrowed our pool of Work Sabatoge suspects down to either the girl I suspected earlier or the new overnight bosslady. Thing is, neither is all that logical. Like, girl would get nothing if I got in trouble. She could have done overnights if she wanted to; they offered her the job. Repeatedly. She said no, repeatedly. Overnight boss lady makes me sad because I thought we were friendly. :( But I've had three different people tell me, "Don't trust her. She will stir shit up." And one of those people has no use for drama at all, and never has. She will straight up tell you if someone is talking about you behind your back and who they've been talking to. She will not join in, she will not tell them to stop, but she will record the info for telling you later because you should know who you can trust.
Only I don't work with her anymore, so I got the news via someone else on the night shift and I can't ask that person because they've got a bit of a scatterbrained mouth. Thing is, last night proved that much as I adore the new lady (not overnight manager), she and I had very different ideas of "work."
So if you get me in trouble/fired, you have one person who is really only good at ringing people up slowly and chatting with them, one person who either works really well or not at all, and one person who just works slowly but will do what you need done. None of which will get you a clean store in time to avoid being bitched at.
Which isn't really something to tell someone you're trying to wake up from a coma. :P It's boring enough as it is.
And in "I am incredibly petty and awful!" news: while in the waiting room, A's grandmother asked if Penny had been by. No. "Oh, well, but she's Ari's best friend."
Ouch, old lady. Ouch. I am sitting right here. I'm sitting right here and I have not banged your son and then hid it for months, only to spill the beans when SURPRISE, he wasn't looking for anything serious because he's got a girlfriend (which was known about prior to the banging) thank you very much. I'm sitting right here and I didn't try to bang A's husband and then, when that didn't happen, spend the next forever being a royal cunt to him. Hello, I'm sitting right here and I didn't tell everyone at her job about her surgery last summer when she specifically asked me not to. Hello, I am sitting right here and I didn't then further gossip about her AT WORK to the point that she was denied disability pay.
Look. If A&D want to say that Penny is A's best friend, FINE. I will be super hurt but I will accept that this is what happens when someone else is capable of hanging out with you at a moment's notice and I am not. I will cry like a little girl, but it will be a cold day in hell before I accept that That Bitch Penny ranks higher than I do... without a fight, anyway.
(Penny hasn't been by because D doesn't want her to know. Before anyone says, "But you do and you could tell her!" or "but you know so clearly you rank higher!" a) I don't have her phone number and b) it sounds like he wouldn't have told me either, but Cass outranked him on the matter of moi. Also, she cannot stand Penny either so...)
So I'm a weird mix of "EEEEEEEEEE!" to the good news and exceptionally pissy to the Penny bit. You are better than this, self. You are.

And maybe the grandmother has her own warped opinions not really based in reality re: who are granddaughter's BFFs are. Especially if she doesn't know all the sordid drama (which grandmothers tend not to, I think).
But seriously - YAY!!!!!! I've been thinking a lot about you guys lately and hoping everything would turn out for the best.
