Names are difficult
Mar. 31st, 2014 05:24 amYesterday was a success as far as doing things I meant to do. I finished Season 4 of Pretty Little Liars (dammit!) and made a bunch of devilled eggs although I didn't manage to get them to taste just right. They're still super yummy though. Oh, and I was most envious of being on the wrong side of the country for what I'm assuming was the best baby shower ever, complete with HP theme.
I also managed to get some pictures of my customs and the new Double-Bow dress from AG. The pictures kinda suck because MG2 is not a fan of the flash and I'm still trying to figure out what she looks best in. (Ivy, you see, is easy. Because she looks best in everything.) Also, both outfits shown show off most people's least favorite bits of the doll. And yet, I still like them both.
First up, our nameless MG2. I keep waffling on actually calling her Jessica or something similar but I worry that if I did, I would wind up wanting a Liz... and I don't mean Lizbeth. I mean a twin, and I just don't think I could handle having Wakefield twins in AG form. (I still adore the pair someone else has though.) So more name ideas are welcome.

This is the shot Ozma helped take. Find the kitty whiskers!

MG2 is standing on her own in those shoes which is why she's standing a little funny. They have a tiny bit of a heel which forces your doll to stand a smidge off. I feel your pain, doll. I feel your pain.

See? Smidge of a heel. Also, these are deceptive little shoes. The backstrap you can see is very close to the bow and when you first look at them you think, "Wtf?" but the elastic is your friend right up until you try and keep it on her ankle and then it just slides right off. Third time was the charm, though, and they seem like they'd stay on even if you dragged your doll downstairs and outside.
Bow aside, the shoes feel a little flimsy. They're clearly very thin and they also seem a little off in the fit, especially the right foot. They don't feel like you'll snap them in two or anything, but the sandals I previously had her in had more weight to them, so it was an interesting swap.

Headband is cute enough but it has the usual headband issues. I think it's a little too short if you actually plan to use it to push your doll's hair out of her face and it's got that ridiculously long tag that shows through her hair if you try to wear it that way.

Now. The dress itself. I think it's gorgeous. I don't think it's doing MG2 a lot of favors, though, and that makes me a sad panda but it's also possible I expected too much of it on her?
So we'll concentrate on the dress itself. Some people described the fabric as chintzy and I completely disagree. The fabric is actually heavier than I would have thought, based on the dress being an Easter-Spring dress. It feels very nice and might actually beat out some of the Christmasy-holiday dresses for one of my favorite more modern dresses. It feels like someone put some effort into this, for lack of a better description. It doesn't feel like cut corners or fabric chosen at random.
I like the darker blue used for the bows and they look cuter in person than they do in photographs. I liked that the bodice is lined under that pleated section.

The back of the dress. Bows go all the way around to the back and line up neatly with the velcro.
The only real downside, aside from showing off the arm and neck seams is that you can definitely tell where the dress was folded to fit into the standard MyAG slim box.

It's just a really beautiful color, really.

I kept waffling on whether to grab Cecile's necklace and try it out with this and then CeCe told me she knew where I slept soooooo...

I like it better on MG2 without the headband. I'm still trying to figure her out, remember?

So then I tried it with Emily's sweater. And Ozma kept trying to help style MG2's hair. :P
Now let's switch to Julie's bathing suit which I bought when it was packaged with her roller skating outfit. (I think the bathing suit is still available for the same price the set was with the extra outfit. You suck, AG.)

Hannah is wearing it. From the side angle it's weird because of the seams. However there's something adorable about the whole thing on her so please overlook that weirdness.
It's spring and Hannah heard there's a pool so she thought she'd try and con a ride down to it. (Her beach towel is elsewhere but was included in the set!)

Made of swimsuit-y fabric and it's just weirdly cute for something from a decade I don't particularly care for.

Hannah took the whole "no pool today" thing rather well.

I think she's gorgeous, personally. :P

Why yes, with all that hair I am just pulling it back into a ponytail, why do you ask?
And now four nearly identical pictures of them together because I can spam if I wanna!

I found that I actually do have a use for Julie's bathing suit as Hannah has claimed it and it looks much better than I would have dreamed, so that was a nice surprise. (I bought the set for the roller skating outfit for Ivy, so the bathing suit was just kind of... here.)
As for the double-bow dress, I'm glad I bought it. I think it'll require a second shot on another doll (likely a brunette) but I think the dress itself is stunning and almost worth the asking price. I feel it needed a piece of jewelry or something extra, personally.
So if you can get it without paying the shipping (like, pop into a store or find it on ebay or something) I would jump on that. But I also seem to have developed a soft spot for the spring dresses soooooooo... my judgement may be clouded.
Now back to the naming game.
