Alo, people. (All five of you. Huzzah!) Yesterday started my mini vacation from work. It's mini because I'm only using two days but that gives me four days off. Yay for piggybacking them onto my weekend. The reason is because tomorrow is the anniversary of Dad's death and while it's likely I will not sit around weeping or anything, I didn't particularly want to work either.

Yesterday I went to Cassy's to sniff the new Scentsy testers she ordered. The day before she'd dropped off these lovelies:

Cranberry Glass Nightlight, Cream Glass Nightlight, and Seafoam Fluted Shade, as well as my three bars (two of Cinnamon Bear before it was retired for the season and one of Goody Goody Gumdrop which is a bit off an odd scent but one I think I like).

Not sure if anyone's interested in my ramblings on them but ha! You'll be getting them. If you want pictures of them actually in use, just let me know and I'll make it happen.

I ordered the Cranberry plug-in/nightlight because I'd already seen it in person. It's gorgeous, honestly. It's one of those that's kind of pretty when not plugged in (frosted cranberry with a crackle kind of thing going on, you can see it in the picture, but the frosted part is what makes it kind of pretty and not gorgeous without a light) but the moment you flick it on, people actually say, "Oooooh, ahhhh." I'm not kidding about this one, actually. It happened at Ari's birthday party and it happened again when Cass and I tried them out to make sure they worked here, AND THEN when I showed it to Mom. Widget's response was slightly different with an, "Oh, WOW!"

The only downside is that I currently have it plugged into my bathroom vanity area which is connected to my room without a door. It's a red light. It takes a little getting used to. I might move it downstairs to the kitchen or maybe to the bathroom proper. If our hallways had any outlets, I would probably use it there, but they don't. (When house hunting, definitely make sure that the hallways have an outlet you can get to if you'll be doing any holiday decorating or you think you'll need something like this. /tip )

The cream version I took a chance on. I figured that the cranberry was so pretty, it was worth seeing if it's less flashy sibling was nice, too. Everyone else reacts with, "It's nice, too." I think it's actually very pretty on it's own, it's just that it definitely gets overshadowed by the cranberry warmer. If I do wind up swapping out the warmers in my bathroom, the cream one will get called up to the big leagues. Otherwise I might put it in the bathroom proper because it is simply too pretty NOT to use. I also like it in the kitchen. It's just very pretty and definitely gives off a lot of light.

And that leaves us with the Seafoam shade. I already own the Blue Diamond shade (which photographs like arse in their promo stuff aside from one catalog shot that was gorgeous) and since I love it so much, I was super curious about the Seafoam warmer.

The lampshade warmers are a bit different from the regular warmers. They have a lot more pieces and are definitely less... sturdy? For example, I could pick up Mom's Whoot warmer right now and if I had it unplugged, I could throw it at an intruder and I'd have a decent shot of hitting them and knocking them out because it's two pieces. (Three if you count the lightbulb, which I don't because it's screwed in.) The lampshades have numerous pieces and if you knock into them, you have a higher risk of things going wonky. They have a base (where the cord and lightbulb attatch), the glass shade, a metal ring, and the glass warming dish. That's a fair amount of glass and if you're used to the regular warmers, you have to adjust to the extra steps on the lampshades. BUT when they get them right, they're fantastic.

Alas, they are also super overpriced ($40! My real lamp cost less than that!) so I only caved this time because Cass gave me her half price hostess credit AND it was already on sale because February is one of their "transition" months when they put everything on sale. So it was about $14 or something. Um, yes, please, I'll try it.

I went in knowing from a bit of Googling that it was probably a little light on the seafoam but still... I had to know for sure. It really is, though. I'm disappointed in that. Why use a color that's so beautiful and then not use it to its fullest? Meh. Anyway, I assembled it and it's pretty nifty assembled but it's definitely one that looks like it would need to be lit up to be properly appreciated as the seafoam is pretty frosted (dull). Yeah, the moment you light it up, the seafoam is gone completely. So it's very strange. For the price I paid, I'm not upset. But I'm also not upset to not have a place to use it just yet because it's not calling my name loudly enough.

I did learn that when you plug the blue diamond in next to it, the blue from BD makes Seafoam looks amazing. But I sincerely doubt you'd want two right next to each other. :P Cass felt the same way.

One other thing that's different about Seafoam: the warming dish is more like a small glass and less like a dish. I know that one of the tulip shades has one that is an even deeper glass (as in it looks like an actual glass you'd drink from) so there's that. Oh, and the bases for the two lampshades I have are not interchangeable.

Originally the plan had been to do our sniffing Saturday, too, but she left her testers home. So I went over there yesterday and got to see her new shinies, too. Zen Rock is... y'know, a rock. But it's a nice rock and I know a lot of people who would find it perfect for their decorating needs. It's an element warmer which means it doesn't have a lightbulb but uses a heating element (hence the name!) So if you're not big on light in the bedroom or something, tada. She's currently using it in her bedroom, probably for the light issue.

She also bought Charmer, the original one with the red hearts. I think Scentsy dropped the ball on this in a couple of ways. One, it's expensive, and I know these things aren't cheap, but... yeah. That said, the glass you use to fill the warmer with is actually semi-dulled, so it's definitely not one to get if you're clumsy or you've got kids or pets who might knock it over. None of this is what I meant when I said they dropped the ball, though. They're selling through the heart-charms version and replacing it with a version without the charms. Why not sell little add-on packs of charms, like shamrocks for March, some eggs or pastel bits for Easter/Spring, some red and blue stars for the 4th... you get the idea. I mean, seriously. People are going to hit up their craft store anyway, you might as well try and grab the brand loyalists before they head off to spend their money elsewhere.

All that said, it's definitely one to keep an eye on if that's your thing, or you like them when they give off a lot of light, or you want one you can change to suit the seasons. It's pretty, it's just a lot of wasted potential going on there, that's all.

Crikey, the next bit is going to wind up on its own post because I'm maybe halfway through and it's really long. So... until then?
