New AG stuff

Well. That was anti-climactic. If you're going to relaunch something, it should probably include more than changing the Meet outfit, throwing in four Limited Edition things, and maybe one regular outfit, k? This is embarrassing, AG. Also embarrassing? The fact that as of the last time I checked, you know which dolls were marked No Longer Available? The black dolls. Seriously, #58 and lucky #62 (new doll alert!) were (are?) the only ones showing up as available and only two of the white girls are showing up as unavailable. That's not cool, little IT Turtle. You're failing spectacularly here. It's 8:30am and they're still showing as out of stock. The. Fuzzy?

Anyway. Moving along. Let's see what we're dealing with. I'm going to do things a little differently because we are dealing with Limited Edition stuff, okay?






Flamingo Beach Dress // $28

This colorful outfit is perfect for a summer party! Includes:

A dress that’s printed with a flock of flamingos and features a halter neckline, gathered drop–waist, and touches of golden sparkle
A beaded bracelet with a cute starfish charm
Strappy sandals

When this first hit the bay of E, people speculated that the flamingo print signified that it was for Maryellen. Turns out no, it's a LE outfit for the Truly Me launch. Since it showcases the arm and neck seams, it's not going to follow me home. Based on how many people seem to be losing their minds over it, you might want to pick it up ASAP if it's your thing. Also, $28 isn't awful considering you get a unique pair of shoes and a cute bracelet, plus it looks like it'll be cute on everyone. Well, assuming the seams don't make you go "nope" like they do for me. Even then, a cute little shrug could probably fix that...

Oh, and while the website doesn't say anything about these being LE, the catalog scans do.




Seaside Fun Outfit // $30

Seaside is her best side! Truly Me™ dolls will be all set to search for shells or watch the waves in this fun beach–ready outfit:

A comfy striped hoodie featuring a pink flamingo graphic
White denim shorts that have frayed leg openings and are splashed with multicolored embroidered mini icons
Turquoise sandals decorated with pretend jewels

I feel like Claudia Kishi is telling me that flamingos are in... Of all the LE stuff I've seen thus far (and I gather there's at least one store exclusive), this is the only one I can see myself buying. I think the shoes are cute, I like the short, and the hoodie isn't bad. I don't necessarily love them all together, but I do like. It's funny, but if this was $28 I'd have bought it already.




Beach Hammock Set // $58

It's cute. It's $58. I'd rather throw that money elsewhere. Still, I mean, cute. Plus that shade of blue is gorgeous.




Beach Blanket Set // $24

Let’s all go to the beach! This set includes a striped blanket and pretend picnic–lunch goodies: a turkey sandwich with an olive on top, a bag of chips, a wedge of watermelon, a glass of pink lemonade with a fun straw, a white plate, and a blue napkin.

This is a set for one. That is sad and also a bit of a money grab from AG since usually these things are set for two. What the hell, AG? One is the loneliest number, after all.


I think that concludes the LE stuff for now, so let's circle back to the regular outfits.



Shimmer Doodle Outfit // $28

Her Truly Me™ doll can sparkle with style in this outfit:

A long–sleeved tee printed with colorful stars and accented with sequins and glitter
A crinkle–fabric gray skirt that has a comfy knit waistband with a bit of glitter, too!

  This feels like an outfit we've seen before. Multiple times. Maybe it's just the color combination, but I'm finding it hard to get all that enthused about it. I'll probably attempt to scoop it up whenever it goes on sale, but won't knock myself out trying to get before then.





Lilac Dress // $28

This lovely lilac knit dress will have her Truly Me™ doll ready for anything, from school days to weekend fun! Three–quarter length sleeves and a drop waist add to the comfort, and mesh accents with sequins at the neckline and hem add a touch of fancy. Turquoise ballet shoes with a sparkly dot print are the perfect finishing touch.

That's the new Meet dress. I'm still getting pastel colored Starfleet vibes from it and I think $28 is a rip off but they do get points for offering it on its own, even if it's not technically available yet.






Love to Layer Accessories // $28

  This is something different, I'll grant them that. I actually like the way it transforms the Lilac Dress of Doom into something cuter, but I also wish they'd just offered it all together. You do save $5 when you buy these and a Truly Me doll, which is nice. I... might do this whenever I cave and buy one of the TM dolls in the future. Sometime.


That leaves us with the three new girls. Are you ready? We're going in random order just for fun.


#63 // $115
Classic mold, blonde, and regular blue eyes. She gets points for short hair and for being really pretty in stuff like this:

However everyone looks cute in Emily's PJs and I don't need another classic mold, especially one with hair I've already snagged and given to a custom. So. She's cute and I look forward to people using her to model everything under the sun, but I shall likely not be buying her.

  Jess mold, brown eyes, light skin, black hair. I allowed myself to peek at the dolls at work on my phone and I was most befuddled by #64 here. At first glance, she's just #30 without layered hair (maybe?) and maybe with a different part. However, at home on a better screen, we find out that this is not!Ivy. Ivy was different from all the other Jess molds because of her eyes. While 64 here doesn't have the pinwheel eyes, she does have the painting in the corners of her eyes. Behold:

Pardon the huuuuge close-ups, but it's one of those things that requires you to get good and close to appreciate the differences. Basically if you missed Ivy, or you hated that haircut they saddled her with despite it only being in ONE book, this is your chance to make your own. I... might be thinking of it. I mean, maybe.

Possibly.

Probably.

Dammit.

  Sonali mold, medium skin, amber eyes, straight dark brown hair. Until now, the only medium Sonali mold was one of the dolls without hair. Now you've got another option. And because I see a Sonali mold and want the doll... um, I wants. I do. It's a shame she looks like ass in this outfit, though.

And because I'm a giver, here's the description for the Truly Me dolls:
The 18–inch Truly Me doll has a huggable cloth body, eyes that open and close, hair that can be styled, and a movable head and limbs made of smooth vinyl. I'm looking forward to seeing the new girls (62 and 64 mostly) in different outfits because I strongly suspect that they will both be following me home eventually. Next month we're supposed to get more stuff so I'm thinking of this as just a teaser... otherwise I'm awfully disappointed in the release as a whole. :(
