AG: Holiday release
Aug. 28th, 2015 09:46 am And now we look beyond Maryellen and notice that the site was sort of updated. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm getting old and I've found that websites are back to looking exceptionally ugly these days so... Enh.
Josefina:
Josefina should sue with the way they're treating her. Seriously, everyone else got a nice fancy refresh and what has this poor girl gotten? Pajamas and nighttime upgrade, sure, but beyond that? Nada. We were led to believe that this time she'd get something of substance and instead she got this:

Josefina's Hairstyling Set // $22
Item#CMC60

Authentic to Josefina's style in 1824, her ribbon-braid headband and hairbows are perfect for life on the rancho, and weaving in flowers gives her hairdo a pretty pop!
Josefina does not look impressed, does she? Do kids really find pony-o's easier to use than having a long enough length of ribbon with which to tie a bow?
Her mini doll was also updated.
Truly Me:

Cool Coral Outfit // $28
Item#CMV10

Casual and comfy, this cool coral outfit is great for any doll adventure. It includes:
A long-sleeved coral top with a fun zebra print and silvery studs
Teal stretch leggings with an allover distressed blue glitter print
Sparkly silver-colored ballet-style shoes
Glitter all over the leggings, eh? That could be... dangerous. I'm enh on this. I kind of like it and I kind of hate it, so we meet in meh middle.

Movie Popcorn Machine // $48
Item#CMV14

Pop up a party! Dolls can serve their friends a delicious buttery treat—just like at the movies. This make-believe theater-style popcorn machine has a light and makes popping sounds at the push of a button, and the handle on the side can be turned to rotate the popcorn tray. The set includes:
A popcorn machine with realistic-looking clumps of popcorn permanently molded inside
Two clumps of pretend popcorn that can be removed to fit inside the theater-style popcorn containers
A pretend container of butter
A pretend salt shaker that dolls can hold
Two faux fountain drinks with straws
Two pretend boxes of candy
Please note:
Requires 3 AAA and 1.5V alkaline batteries, not included
*dies* popcorn machine with realistic-looking clumps of popcorn permanently molded inside This is cute but again, there's only so much space to go around.

Comfy Couch // $68

Item#CMV15
It’s a comfy place for doll friends to relax. This soft couch has a pretty pink print and room for two dolls to sit. The set includes:
A comfy couch
Two reversible pillows with furry blue fabric on one side and an embroidered graphic on the other
A tray that fits on the couch for holding drinks, snacks, and other things the dolls want to keep close
And this is probably why they didn't really think twice about releasing Me's couch and this couch at the same time. Maryellen's sofa looks like an actual piece of furniture and this looks a bit like a giant pillow shaped sort of like a couch, maybe. If you squint. My knees hurt just thinking about trying to get up off a couch this low to the ground. And that should tell you that if I'm getting an AG couch, I'll be going with Me's.

Entertainment Set // $85
Item#CMV16

Let the entertaining begin! Dolls can invite their friends over for movies, karaoke, music, and more. This set includes:
A TV console with cabinet doors and storage shelves
A pretend LED-lit TV that sits on top of the console, with three transparent TV screens that slide inside for the dolls to view
A make-believe DVD player with two DVDs that can be inserted and ejected
A TV remote that fits in the doll’s hand
A pretend microphone that dolls can hold for karaoke
Two cardstock bins with different patterns to customize the décor—a total of 16 possible pattern combinations
Doll-sized 3D glasses
Designer door inserts—floral pattern on one side, and mirrored with artwork on the other
Please note:
Requires 3 AAA and 1.5V alkaline batteries, not included.
I love a lot about this, actually. My favorite bit is that it's a throwback to the days when you could compare the modern stuff directly to the historical stuff and see how things have changed and how things have stayed the same. This is pretty much the modern update of Maryellen's TV and while I understand why they didn't do the same gimmick for it (you have to give people a reason to buy that one over the newer, more familiar version) I wish they had. On the other hand, I'm tickled by the AG-ified Netflix screen so, there you go. I like that you can decorate the stand and I'm wondering how long they'll keep this around with Grace as the DVD and screen included.
If I had the money and the space, I'd totally snag this whenever it went on sale.

2-in-1 Gymnastics Outfit // $30
Item#CMV03

She loves to tumble, blissfully walks the beam, and does flips for fun—and this set gets her ready for every one! It includes:
A pink-, blue-, and silver-print striped tank top
Blue shorts with a velvety feel
A gray V-neck sweatshirt with a “gymnastics” print
White knit slippers
A blue satin elastic headband
This still looks so cheap to me. It looks like someone found a sort of cute Build-a-Bear outfit and tried to make it work for their AG doll and it didn't quite work. :/

Rhythmic Gymnastics Outfit // $34
Item#CMV04

She’s ready to perform a smooth and graceful routine in this rhythmic gymnastics outfit. This set includes:
A purple-and-magenta long-sleeved leotard with silver foil print sequin swirls and clear rhinestones
A purple scrunchie hair accessory
A ribbon wand with a clear holder to fit in the doll’s hand
A hoop
A silver-colored medal and ribbon
A paper certificate to commemorate her accomplishment
If you made McKenna's friend Toulane, you can now properly outfit her for her life as a rhythmic gymnast. On sale, I'd probably pick this up for Ivy. I have no shame, even if I'm easily amused by the accomplishment mentioned is just having a good day at practice. :P

Warm Winter Outfit // $28
Item#CMV05

Wonderful winter style—dolls can get comfy in this set. This outfit is designed to match the Warm Winter Accessories, sold separately. The outfit includes:
A sweater with melon, coral, and purple color-blocking, a curved hem, and heart-shaped elbow patches
Purple leggings
Fair Isle knit boots in complementary colors to complete her look
In this shot, the outfit doesn't look awful. But in store pictures, it was/is eye-searingly awful. As in I actually sat back and hissed, "What is that? Whyyyyyyyy?"

Warm Winter Accessories // $24
Item#CMV06

Warm winter layers ensure that dolls who love the outdoors are kept cozy. These great accessories include:
A purple woven vest with princess seams, a stand-up collar, and a cuddly fleece lining
A Fair Isle knit hat with braid details and a scalloped knit edge to frame the doll’s face, plus a fleece lining and pompom
Matching fingerless mittens with rib-knit cuffs
Not a huge fan of purple and orange together soo... the vest's cute, eh?
There's also a Starry Garment Bag but the description currently up is for the coral outfit. :P

Playful Polar Bear Pajamas // $24
Item#CMV02

Cute and cuddly, fun and festive—these PJ’s will have dolls looking their sweetest on chilly winter nights. The outfit includes:
A red heathered top with a ruffled hem for a fancy touch, and a glittery snowflake and polar bear graphic on the front
Knit pants with a polar bear print and a legging-style fit
Red knit slippers with white faux-fur trim
Two red hairbands
So torn! I love pajamas. I love holiday themed doll stuff. I... don't know what to make of this set. If it weren't for the ruffled hem, I'd be all over this...

Cozy Christmas Scene // $12
Item#DHN74

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! This festive cardstock scene makes it easy for your girl and her doll to celebrate the holidays—any time of the year. She can set up this sturdy cardstock backdrop anywhere for hours of imaginative play, and she can download a sound app with songs and sounds to make the setting even more merry! The scene folds up for easy carrying and storage.
I don't get why they don't show this with a doll in front and instead weirdly 'shopped one next to it. Weird. These tend to go very, very fast when marked down. I wouldn't mind having it, I just don't feel inclined to part with the cash yet. That said, I would have bought the hell out of that tree, garland, wreath, or most of the knicknacks in the picture. :P

Sparkle Spotlight Outfit // $34
Item#CMV07

She sparkles from head to toe and will be ready to shine for any party or performance in this fun outfit! Includes:
A long-sleeved black top with a Peter Pan faux-collar of silver-colored sequins
Lined shorts that are completely covered in shiny silver-colored sequins
Gray rib-knit tights that look adorable under her shorts
Glittery shoes with pink satin-ribbon bows on the toes
A headband to top off her fancy look
If loving this is wrong, I don't want to be right. You can save an extra $5 if you buy this outfit and any TM instrument at the same time (til Nov 4) but I probably won't fall for that. I just like all the sparkle here. I neeeeeeed it. I also have a sinking feeling that it'll go on sale the absolute second I buy it.

Joyful Jewels Outfit // $36
Item#CMV08

Designed especially for holiday parties and performances, this outfit will have dolls looking their festive best. It includes:
A dress with a taffeta yoke adorned with sequins and pretend gems, a velvet bodice, a full gathered skirt in taffeta with tulle underneath, and a sash tied at the waist
A red satin headband for her hair
Shiny black T-strap shoes
Those shoes with that dress? And that yoke is killing me and not in a good way. But I still like this more than I thought I would. How is that even possible? When it's not shown on the doll, I'm totally uninterested, but put it on a doll and suddenly it looks completely different. What kind of witchcraft?

Gorgeous Gold Outfit // $38
Item#CMV09

She sparkles and shines for every occasion! Dolls will love dressing up for a special event in this gorgeous golden dress. The outfit includes:
A dress with a textured golden bodice and satin ribbon bows, a full skirt featuring metallic golden details and two layers of cream tulle underneath, and a golden satin sash at the waist
Sparkly golden ballet flats with bows at the toes
A metallic golden flower hair clip
A sparkly golden purse
Of the two dresses, this is probably the one that's worth the higher price if you liked them both equally. It's got that purse. It was also the one I was most looking forward to seeing the details on and now I'm left all kinds of confused. That textured bodice looks vaguely like paper towels that have gotten wet and then dried again. Weird. o_O I'll need to see better pictures, but I think we all know I can't go a season without buying at least one holiday dress...

Holiday Accessories // $32
Item#CMV12

This set ensures dolls have everything they need for holiday gatherings—including a gift! It comes with:
A velveteen shrug to add a bit of warmth to any fancy dress
A ring to add a glimmer to the festivities
A glitter globe that makes a great gift for a special friend; it has loose glitter and a little tree inside (no liquid)
Pretend striped glossy ribbon candy
A candy box
A pink gift bag covered in foil snowflakes
A sheet of red tissue paper
That RING. And I want to see how this looks with the gold dress. That is all.

Bitty Cream and Crimson Outfit // $28
Item#CMG44

Bitty Baby will be all set to celebrate a special occasion in this fancy cream velveteen dress. It features metallic golden and red embroidery on the skirt, plus a red satin waistband and bow. The outfit also includes a headband with a red satin bow and golden metallic shoes.
This one I waffle on. I think it's really cute and really pretty, but then I think, "Would I ever use it? Bitty of the Damned hasn't changed her outfit in like, six years."
So many things have left me confuddled. Still need better pictures, I guess. Thoughts? Opinions? Got a shopping list?
Oh, and Bitty got revamped ( I was going to say gutted but that sounds gross.) and they tossed quite a few babies out with the bathwater. Sorry, sorry, I tried to resist and I failed. Forgive me?

Sparkly silver-colored ballet-style shoes

(no subject)
Date: 2015-09-01 04:24 pm (UTC)I hate that asymmetrical hemlines are still a thing. :/ It's a little less noticible in some shots, so it's still very likely that I'll cave at some point but still. Mullet. Dress. Why?
I get leggings under skirts because duh, but under shorts is still a thing I think I'm just too old to get. :P Or maybe it's because I was the kid who wore shorts and sweatshirts?
