ORLY, I am not impressed. I snatched a bunch of the Disney Villains polishes when work finally clearanced them out (1.74 a bottle for the singles is nothing to sneeze at, and the two packs were two-something) and I've tried two colors so far. I'll admit that whatever I do to my basecoat/topcoat combo means it basically turns all polish into Tinker Bell polish (y'know, peel off?) after maybe three or four days, but sometimes it'll stick around for a week. Yeah, Sinister Sea Witch peeled off in less than 24 hours. Which is a shame because it's such a strangely beautiful color. But it's chipping like a mofo and peeled right off one of the nails. One of the purples I snagged (Evil Queen's? Maleficent's?) chipped pretty badly, too, but it lasted longer than one day.

Now, for a polish that won't flippin' quit, the Sally Hansen Gel polishes are pretty damn stubborn. They chipped a bit after three days, but day one was truck day so the fact that the color didn't chip then and there was impressive. I need to remove the rest on my right hand because it's just not cute. Sadly, since they say not to use a base coat, my nails have been stained green. :/ Not cute.

Toy wise, Great Scarrier Reef Toralei is adorable. You have to assemble her tail, but she's much easier to move around than Sirena, who is thrilled to have fishy friends. She's already demanding that Frankie and Lagoona visit ASAP. But I must be good and buy things for other people, not just myself.

Huh. Base coat and top coat are supposed to help your polish last longer, not make it easier to peel off (I wince even thinking about it!!) Maybe you need to experiment with your base coat/top coat regime?

Sorry to hear the DV polishes are a bust. I can't say that I've seen any of them (or the lipsticks - only saw Ursula branded stuff at the good Wags) and ORLY is usually a consistently decent brand.

I just can't with the gel polish. Sort of like textured - not my bag.

Heh, I don't normally mind the peeling/popping off, but apparently if I'm going to use the Orly colors, I'll have to find another route because I redid them and it happened again. Less than 14 hours this time. But I really like the colors so we'll give it another shot later.

I've only tried a couple of gel type things because I don't have an extra $10 to blow on just a top coat before we even begin getting into colors.

Why no gel love on your end?

I like to change my nail polish way too much to appreciate the longevity of gel polish. That, and the price point. It's just never appealed to me.

Makes sense. I'm ever so tired of the teal that's somehow not chipped or moved at all on just one finger and only started to chip on the other, but I committed to seeing how long it would last so, I guess I did this to myself. :P

The changing colors so often is why I don't mind the pop/peel usually (it just makes it easier), so I definitely get that.
