AG holiday shots, sorta

I think I sort of said there'd be AG photos, yes? Well, I didn't say they'd be good. Apparently I was so thrilled at being done with my task so early in the day that it didn't occur to me that maaaaaaaybe I should take more than ten pictures. Y'know, just in case everyone was sporting some fun flyaways or looking in different directions (how, you're dolls and I arranged you not two seconds ago, how?)

Anyway.

Kaya (wearing Izzy's oatmeal dress that, for whatever reason, AG released for Cyber Monday sans the gold mesh overlay and the silver sequins. Also, that belt is crap and would not belt and it's actually tied in the back and I could rant for days about the suck of that belt.), Grace 1, and Grace 2.


I really like the way Ruthie looks in this outfit. Actually, Leia's looking pretty darn awesome, too.

Grace 2 actually photographs really well. Huh. In person she looks a bit off. But why, why do you have two of the same doll? Because #2 was bought on sale to be customized into (probably) Dawn Schafer. I have a #27 squirreled away (so less Julie blonde, sadly) for when/if I ever get off my duff and send one of the Graces to someone who does the eye swaps. Really wish I'd done that before the postage hike. :P

Until then, Grace 2 is the one with the stock braid still in. Grace makes a pretty cute Samantha, which is fitting since Grace (the doll) reminds me of Samantha and Nellie's lovechild. Woo.


Kaya's just so over this stupid belt. So, so over it.


Hannah, fix your hair, dammit. Lena and Leia are both too nice to say anything but... girl.


Last, we have Sonali and Ivy, who both know where they rate on my list of favorites.

Overall, I learned a couple of things from these configurations.
1) That DAMN BELT.
2) Grace looks better in Sam's new holiday dress than anyone else I've seen so far.
3) the 80's pink dress isn't somehing I'd consider holiday-ish. Ditto the double bow dress (at least not without Emily's cardigan over it).
4) Lena looks really cute with the bow to that dress, but the dress itself isn't doing her any favors.

Sooooo... that's basically just one possible The One True Dress match. Still, it's better than nothing.

I've been very careful in not re-reading the books in order, and skipping the really bitchy Dawn books (I'm looking at you, Eco Warrior Dawn!) but god help me, I love #31.

Which is to say that yes, yes this is a sickness and yes, you totally caught it from me. It doesn't help that Julie's book covers are basically "hey, semi adult types! You know what you need? Dawn Schafer! Julie Albright! She's from CA and everything!" so for years it's been slowly infecting everyone. Muhahaha... Ahem. One way or another it's going to happen, though I'm still not sold on the wig I've currently got. But AG Dawn is a real thing and if I had ANY faith in my ability to do the eye swap myself, she'd be made already.

My only fear is that once Dawn appears, she'll want to bring friends and won't accept other dolls moonlighting as her friends Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:30-6pm. :P

I ♥ early canon back when Ann was still writing the books herself, which does include #31, but sheesh. Mary Anne was no angel herself but WOW was Dawn bitchy. She was the one who wanted MA to live in her room and everything and couldn't admit that she'd been wrong, so she (literally) scared MA away instead. I like this book more for the subplot than the main plot (Pike Plague FTW!) bc unlike seemingly every other BSC fan on the planet I don't like it when the girls fight for no reason.

Why do you need to change her eyes? Dawn has blue eyes. Do they come in super-pale ~cornflower blue~ or something?

Surely you have enough AG to recreate the W ♥ KC without much effort :P

Oddly enough, I wanted Dawn or Grace (if I wasn't leaving one stock) to have the darker blue eyes that I think are prettier and don't tend to look as flat, and look better on the blond Josefina molds. The lighter blue Grace has looks... off to me on say, Elizabeth (blonde haired/light blue eyed Josefina mold). And you scoff, but people will swear early Kirstens have lighter blue eyes. I personally haven't encountered any such thing in the wild, but hey, I don't have any really, really old dolls so who knows.


I haven't read 31 in awhile because for the longest time the only copy I could find was the one I had when I was a kid and it's literally falling apart and held together by dust and crackling tape, so kid!me is totally driving the nostalgia car on this one. That and I dug the cover even if MA is a giant on it.

*nods* I feel you on not liking the random fights between the girls. Friendship, dammit, and fictional to boot. I don't need my book friends fighting just because.

Oddly, the blondes in my AG army are few. Though MG could totally Jill it up!
