Birchbox is silly.
Jun. 15th, 2016 05:24 pmHave you ever wanted to watch a company manage to basically screw themselves out of existence with one email? If so, I highly suggest looking up responses to Birchbox's email yesterday. It's been glorious in that way where you just want to shovel popcorn into your mouth and watch as things snowball.
Less glorious in that I'm still subscribed for now. But I'm enjoying watching this backfire so completely. Usually when people stomp their feet and say, "that's it, I'm going to quit!" they don't. (I'm eyeballin' you, AG fandom.) But Birchbox subscribers don't play. They're not even waiting til next month to tell the company to kiss their asses. They're leaving now.
Personally, I'm leaning towards joining them but I want to see how this plays out. Sometimes companies realize "holycrap, we made a mistake. Come back, we changed our minds!" and sometimes they double down. I do plan on using my points either this month if I review enough to hit the proper threshold or next (when they drop the "must have 100 points to do anything" requirement) to buy that water I liked but could never justify spending actual money on. I'd still have to pay actual money, but not as much, and since it's hot as hell this summer... I'd say don't judge me, but really. I understand.

Probably not the reaction the company wanted. ;) Oh, and the CEO responded but the video is ... kinda useless? It's about three minutes of 'companies must change and adapt and we love you, we're sorry some of you don't love us.' I tuned out though, so it's possible there was something amazing tucked in there. Oh, and the Birchbox Facebook page is fantastic for meltdowns. Really, I might just start there if you want to skip straight to the wank.
2) Avène Thermal Spring Water. I've been rationing my little sample and only breaking it out on those days when just lying in bed is too much for the heat. It's amazing and I don't understand why but it is.
