So TS posted the Riverdale trailer on FB earlier, which was funny because I was just thinking about the show this morning and um...



I mean, on the one hand I suppose it makes sense to go with one of their darker themes (I've never had the privilege of reading them but I do know they exist) but at the same time ... you have the Archie world so you're gonna do something completely and totally different? I don't understand. Why bother with Archie in the first place?



I also spent the last two hours or so trying to get the blasted password change thing to work over at AGC. Eventually I lucked out in that I was logged in on my Kindle so I just changed the password there and voila. Still, it's good to know that the "forgot your password" thing is borked and the way the board is set up, it's impossible to get any help if you aren't friends with someone else on the board and have their info outside the board. (It could still be impossible to get help if you did have one. I dunno.)

Which was depressing to realize I have absolutely no AG friends. I have friends who are into AG, but I know them from elsewhere (and you are awesome, my loves). I've been in the ~fandom~ for a good amount of time and not one friend. It's sad. :( I like to think I'm kinda nifty but I guess that whole fantastically awkward + weird hours combo has conspired against me. Or, y'know, I could suck. I dunno.

I caved and watched it, and it's about as much Archie as the Jem movie was Jem. The characters have the Archie 'verse names, but the story is something else entirely. And I wouldn't be surprised if this, too, had been conceived as something not Archie and then they slapped Archie on it, just like what happened to Jem.

Like if you're gonna randomly have a dark Archie, just go full-on Archie vs. Predator. Or Afterlife with Archie, which I haven't read.

Also, it becomes more clear every time he resurfaces that Luke Perry is immortal. The man does not age.

I guess Luke Perry is one of those people who did his aging all at once and that was it. Which is impressive, really since he's looked pretty much the same for the last forever.

Huh. I wasn't sure if this was anywhere near Afterlife with Archie since I've never read that and was hoping someone who has would be able to say, "Yup, totally this" or that it was close enough to count.

If I ignore the Archie-ness of it, I'd probably be mildly interested but the Archie aspect throws me for a loop and I can't mesh the two. Intriguing mystery that means secrets for days! Totally a thing I love. Surprise guest appearances by Josie and the Pussycats. Why not? But together? Brain does not compute.
