The piano...of DOOM.
Sep. 29th, 2006 09:26 amSooooo. I waited and waited and waited and then finally passed out [still waiting] for Tori to arrive. Naturally my box of doom was waiting for me when I woke for dinner, but I had little time to admire it. It's nifty, so pictures are forthcoming. Possibly tomorrow if I remember to charge the batteries for the camera today. It's exceptionally heavy, all things considered. I thought they were kidding with their three and a half pound shipping notation, but no. It's a heavy little piano. I stared quite happily for a few minutes and then ripped the plastic right off. Inside is the book which is quite loverly though exceptionally evil as it kept me awake for an extra twenty minutes as I randomly flipped through. Some of it is exceptionally zany Tori and some is a little less zany but also a little less brain bending, so you've got the best of both worlds.
About the only two things that stood out as I was slipping into unconsciousness were the bits about what Little Earthquakes would have been like originally and how it evolved and changed, and then a blurb on Cooling and how it's either an incredibly shitty day or a particularly fantastic one if she's playing it.
So, the book is nifty and I really like the last few pages where it gives you a tracklisting for each disc, and it's sort of tempting to scan those images in and then print them to make different covers for the discs... Anyyyyyway. Then you've got discs A-E which also resemble the keyboard, but with Tori on them as well. Woo! Annnnd... that's about it, really, though with B&N, you get that extra disc as well. I've listened to nothing because I'm saving it for this weekend.
In a related story, this month's Blender reviewed the set and interviewed Amy Lee, so tonight at work I might actually buy the blasted thing.
I think I have to go work up the courage [I loathe phones] and the desire to call about various insurancey things at work. Meh. I also have to hunt Arianne down and kill her dead.
If I'm lucky, I'll be able to do that before noon so my headache and I can pass out. Though I think the pills and the burger from Sonic helped kill that.
Sometimes I forget how nifty Meg Cabot books are.
