Practical Magic
Oct. 30th, 2015 11:24 pmIt's October, 1998. Ari and I are in New York visiting Sarah Lawrence, which is where Ari will wind up going to college until the year she's supposed to go to Oxford but her stepfather kinda neglects to pay the bill.
But that hasn't happened yet in the story. Nope, it's October in a place that does Halloween right. Leaves are red, yellow, and orange. The trees look ablaze and pumpkins can be carved prior to Halloween night.
I don't remember a lot about the day, but I do remember that Ari and I went to the movies and saw Practical Magic. 1998 was a good year for Hollywood witches since it was also the year Charmed premiered.
Afterwards, we wandered a bit before my aunt picked us up from the theater. There was a cemetary and wekilled some time wandered around. Then she drove us to the store to pick up stuff for dinner. Mmm. Lasagna. To this day, that's the tastiest non-Stouffers lasagna I've ever had, though Mums is making a yummy one these days. Then, Ari and I put on cloaks and went as the black plague and the red death. That's right. I went trick or treating while on a college visit. :P
Back to Practical Magic: it's one of the few things where I like the book and movie pretty much equally even though they are wildly different stories. I mention this because I re-read the book for the first time in a few years and it was just as good as I remembered. :D
