wtf, part 2
Nov. 9th, 2016 11:10 amI don't have the words to explain how terrible I feel about the election outcome. I just... don't. A woman came in at 1am and, without preamble, announced, "I feel sick" and when I asked what was wrong she said, "We have a new President. Trump" and I thought the floor was going to give way right then and there. She then said it wasn't official (yet) but it wasn't looking good and how she'd given up smoking but sweet baby Jesus (I added that part), she needed something to get her through the night.
I worked til 8am which means I had a lot of people come through and normally I say hello and ask how everyone is. I couldn't this morning because it was soul crushing to find so many people I thought I liked so absolutely gleeful that Trump won.
But this didn't happen until the sun came up. Until then, it was a very, very quiet night. Contrast that to back in '08 when people came in screaming with joy or hatred, but there was a reaction. This election has been very, very quiet come the results. The radio didn't even announce anything and Mums sits in the car for a decent amount of time in the morning, k? So for it to be silent on that is pretty strange.
Facebook is a different thing entirely. I have a sea of people making similar posts to this, along the lines of "ohshit, America, what did you do?!" but every so often someone will post something and it's just like a record scratch. My favorite was a comment on someone I'm FB friends with but don't particularly like much (they're really, really self centered but they know EVERYONE and everyone loves them) that said that she wasn't an awful person for voting for Trump, and that it wasn't personal to anyone who was y'know, hosed by this development and she was not defined by her vote.
People naturally called her out. And dragged her to hell and she cried the whole way about how mean people were. Woman, you fucked countless people over because why? Why? That was the original question posed and she never answered why, she just immediately rushed to assure her friend that she wasn't in judgement of them. And then, after she'd been dragged to hell, she wanted that friend to save her. Right, right, let me just vote your rights away and then ask you to save me from the mean people on the internet whose rights I just handwaved away.
Idiots.
Now to find something funny to amuse myself with.

Something completely different
Nov. 9th, 2016 01:29 pmGood news/bad news time!
Good news: my AG box arrived Monday and it has filled me with love. I need to get off my duff and photograph the army in their costumes so I can change outfits because I'm super excited to play with all the things I bought. :D
Bad news: my days off this week are broken up so I'm not sure I'll manage to stay awake long enough tomorrow to do it. Also, half the lightbulbs in my room blew out so... yeah, that's why no photos yet. Because the lighting is suckage with all the bulbs, man.
Good news: After the Kirsten book failed me, I got notification of the Addy Short Story Collection showing up on my list. I requested it and crossed my fingers.
Bad news: Yeah, it ain't happening either. I think every single short story collection has had some issue except maybe Samantha's. :P
Bad news: My paycheck last time was itsy bitsy.
Good news: Tomorrow's check is super sized. :D It looks like the days that were missing from the previous check were put onto this one annnnnnnnnd
Better news: I got a raise. I still haven't cracked... a number I won't say because it's embarrassing as shit that I haven't hit that number but hey... but it's still better than the year our raise was a nickel. So that's retroactively being applied and with my extra days, my check is quite lovely. I mean, it's already going to be spent on bills and crap but it's beefier than usual.
Bad news: Widget's got an appointment in the morning and I have to work the later shift which means I wouldn't make it home for hours after work.
Good news: Cass is picking me up and she's got my Scentsy goodies and we can gossip and stuff. Yays!
It's silly, but looking at the bar area with all the Halloween decorations is distracting me in the very best way. So I'm gonna go snuggle the cat and call it a day.
