In which I blather on about nail polish
Jul. 22nd, 2019 04:59 amMums bought me my Zoyas. This go round we went with Autumn, FeiFei, and Tilly. FeiFei has been on my want list since probably my first order, but I usually wind up buying blues and purples from Zoya (I don't have a problem, what are you even talking about) and she always managed to get pushed down the list. Autumn is just really pretty and feeds into my "spend all summer pining for Fall" vibe. Tilly is my fingers crossed, hope I like her shade. I was watching someone's Zoya haul video (as you do when you're painting your nails) and she seemed genuinely confused by Tilly, as she thought Tilly was meant to be silver but Tilly looked very much a purple on camera/apparently in person. That's a color switch I can get behind, honestly. I'm not sure how I feel about the Pixie Dust formula in any of its incarnations, as I'm not a huge fan of textured polishes... BUT I do know a good top coat can do wonders most of the time. I'll let you know if any of these are horrible mistakes when they arrive.
And yes. It took me forever to decide on my selections because I kept getting drawn to the blues and purples and no, you can't point out that technically I still was because these are light versions of those colors and not the darker colors I normally hoard like a dragon.
Since we're talking polish, last week we went with Holla At Ya Buoy by Sinful Colors with some nails topped with WnW's Kaleidoscope. That combo worked better in my head than in reality, but also better in sunlight so we're not calling it a loss. Whenever I can be bothered, we'll be going with SH's Small But Mighty.
Braved Walmart after work and naturally they were doing the floors, so I had to take the long way to the toy section. At first all I found was one lone Kenna box, still on the supers, but then I found a whole sea of Jacy, Kenna, and a couple of Charlies. But I'd come in for either Rallee (not that she was showing available but a girl can dream) or Cori. Eventually I found four mystery boxes and if I stood on the tippiest of toes, I could reach one. And pulled down a wonky Cori. Sonofabitch. So I tried in vain to reach any of the other boxes, but they were all juuuuuuuuust out of reach. Eventually I reasoned that the case had to either be 6 or 12, not 4, and the site had claimed 12 were in stock. So I wandered down the aisle a bit and found the rest of the Charlies, Jacys, and Coris. And naturally the Cori group was stacked on top of each other. The question was, did I feel like either dropping all four on the floor or hitting myself in the face pulling them down. I decided that since I've done this trick at work about a million times and 95% of the time I get away with it, I'd chance it. And so I did and managed not to drop or hit myself. I wasn't actually super in love with the eyes on any of them but I also was not about to walk out of there without buying a Cori, so I picked one and went on about my business. To be fair though, I might've walked out on principle if not for the fact that I needed to buy some socks, too.
Seriously though, I think I could've been stealing the place blind and no one would've noticed as not one person walked by the entire time I was over there. Not one.
Sleepy now. Going to finish my drink and decide whether to fully dive into the new AG pre-order craziness, sleep, or work on my recapping.
