Apparently I am terrible with focusing on things. I've got a billion things on my plate and what am I doing? I am... doing this. In my limited defense, soon I won't be able to type a lot until Widget falls asleep so this would have to wait another few hours. Or I could do it now and then read/watch TV while I shred magazines later. (headphones are your friend.)

AG holiday dress edition!

I haven't dressed everyone up yet because I'm still dithering on whether or not to dress them in less formal stuff before I go for the holiday dresses or if I just concede defeat now. :P Odds are good Kirsten will wear her baking outfit before slipping into whatever I'm going to have her wear any way, since she'll be donning her St. Lucia dress soon any way.

As I was gathering these pictures, I realized I have a thing for dolly holiday wear. D'oh. In part I think it's because I used to love getting my holiday dress growing up. I don't really remember it beyond the year I ended up with two holiday outfits and felt horribly guilty over the situation. Of course I think that was the last year I was fairly tiny so maybe that has something to do with it? Hrmm. Any way.

Holiday dresses for dolls! Let the fun begin.

We begin with Felicity's Christmas dress. Mostly because a) we've seen it already and b) 1776 is as far back as I go for now. One day, Kaya. One day...

Photobucket
Since I went over this already in the Felicity post, I'll just restate that while I still think this is an iconic piece in Felicity's collection, the dress itself still smells horrible and it's too big for most of my dolls. Manufacturing issues. Woe.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
1853 brings us Cecile's Special Occasion Dress, which is easily the prettiest outfit in her collection aside from possibly her Meet Dress. I won't say it looks good on every doll as I've seen it on some that should have said "no photos, please!" but it looks good on most dolls.

Here it is on my Sonali:
Photobucket
See? Lovely! The necklace keeps the neck-gap from showing if that's a concern and hey, it's an accessory that comes with the outfit which is always something to cheer about.

Photobucket
Kirsten's St. Lucia Day dress and wreath. :D (With bonus Sari since Kirsten risks lives to get her doll.)

Photobucket
Kirsten's wreath will destroy her braids so you should be warned about that upfront. You will have to rebraid them when you take the wreath off. Or at least clean them up.

Photobucket
Crappy photos are crappy.

Photobucket
Over all, I think it's a really cute outfit and I may or may not get a kick out of having Kirsten float through the house on St. Lucia Day (when I remember) with one of my candles from work. *cough*
Striped. Socks. Just sayin'.

Addy's Plaid Tartan dress. Do yourself a favor, if you're AG inclined. Buy this one. Just buy it. Even if you'll never own Addy, it works for your inevitable 80's doll. It's cute enough that if I had a kid (and hell had frozen over for that event) I'd seriously consider this as something to have made in little chiblet size.
The back of the dress has that impressive bow and overall it's just stupidly pretty.
Photobucket
I care not what you say, Ivy looks adorable in it, crappy photo and all. :P I've also seen it look fantastic on Felicity (redheads and green). It looks pretty on just about everyone.

Photobucket
Samantha's Cranberry Party Dress. There are about a million version of this dress as they changed the color throughout its run, not to mention the lace. My Sam is too big to wear her dress, or it just looks funky on her. Woes.

Photobucket
But it looks amazing on Ruthie. ;)

Which leads us to Nellie's Holiday Dress.
Photobucket
This photo does nothing for me. Less than nothing. I didn't even try to get Nellie's dress during the great archival because it was so meh to me. But then someone put it on their Samantha and I snapped to attention. Because look above. How pretty does Samantha look in that dress? I know! So I snagged it off eBay for either retail or under retail and danced happily. And unlike Sam's cranberry dress which needs the Velcro sewn back into the dress properly (I think), this one is perfect.

Photobucket
Random shot of the girl sized version of Sam's dress. Behold the super poofy bow!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Rebecca's Hanukkah dress.

Please take a moment to admire the bow.
Photobucket
The amount of pretty contained within this one bow is staggering, really.

Photobucket
Dress wore it the year I got it. Yes, that was taken that Christmas Day. Our table is only clean for the holidays. :P

Any way. I think the outfit is lovely even if I never can figure out how exactly it's supposed to be worn. Does it bunch a little or do you pull it down straight? Opinions vary. *shrug*

Photobucket
After my trip to DC, I bought this for Ruthie. I'm still not sure why after seeing how pretty she looks in Sam's holiday dress, but hey. They were out of Kanani's party dress at the time and apparently I needed a holiday dress like a crack fix. This also used to be Ruthie's as she gives it to Kit.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Molly's Christmas dress is another one that I think suffered from younger me pining for it so much that adult me had her expectations much too high. I dunno. I thought it would look fab on Samantha. It doesn't. It makes me wonder how it'll look on Molly herself, but whatever. It does look really pretty on Kirsten who pairs it with her red boots because for some reason I love it. Go figure.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Emily's holiday dress. PURPLE. *dies* I love that it comes with a necklace and the fact that it's purple? Soooooooold.

Photobucket
Ruthie wears the hell out of it. I wish the bow had been either an actual bow or on a barrette because as is, it's a pain.

Photobucket
Ivy's Chinese New Year dress will not be worn for Christmas, guys. For years, AG would have bundles with the doll and her holiday dress, sometimes with a brush, and it was sad that until this year, buying that bundle was buying Ivy's whole collection. :P

Photobucket
Sorry it's so tiny. The My American Girl/Girl of Today/Just Like You line starts here. This outfit is actually one Cass bought but hasn't reclaimed yet. It's the Snowflake Jumper. It's sort of a backup outfit until she remembers to ask for it back. ;)

Photobucket
The Twilight Outfit and accessories. Cass bought us each an outfit and accessories when this came out. It hasn't exactly stood up, fashion wise, but the blue holographic boxes make me happy even if HTA has begun to seriously lobby for a new outfit to wear.

Photobucket
Scarlet & Snow outfit. Bought for Sam off eBay before Nellie's outfit. Shoes don't fit her and the dress is super tight so Nellie tried it on for giggles. I love it on her, hat and all. Nellie is adorable in it so thus I've given up all pretense of my dolls keeping to their time periods. :P Also, to me, all of Ag's red outfits are held up to this one as whether they're as pretty/cute or not. Thus far each year is found wanting.

Photobucket
Sapphire Party dress. Sonali claims this one usually. Kirsten wore it last year, but it looks prettier on Sonali by far. Silver shoes! It was a Cyber Monday deal, I think. The only problem is the Velcro they chose to use will catch on the blue dress and it snags horribly.

Photobucket
Holiday shoe set. The tights are useless. They're just too small to fit properly, but the shoes are pretty and make me think of Dorothy's red slippers. (Shush. I know.)

Photobucket
Nani will probably be wearing her Party Dress. Because it's pretty and hers and pretty. ;)

Photobucket
This year's addition to the collection. Sam has claimed it. I'm thinking I'll only get it off her long enough to recurl her hair soon.

Photobucket
This I snagged on Etsy. It's prettier in person though the boots stained poor Felicity's feet. One shouldn't leave a doll in them for most of a year. Whoops. Easy enough to fix.

Past Holiday set-ups. If you were interested.

Ooh, I think Cecile's special dress just made my "want" list. Does it poof out like that naturally, or will I have to bite the bullet and get the undergarments set that's sold separately?

That picture has it paired with the undergarments. I don't think it puffs out on its own, but the dress is so pretty that I don't understand why, of all of their outfits, it's the one rumoured to be on the chopping block. (Well, that and Marie Grace's green & white set.)
